  1. just had a rumble of thunder here in Melbourn (not Australia) feels borderline muggy as well.
  2. Very heavy rain when I left at 7.40am in Stevenage. And one lightning strike. the road looked like a river with so much water everywhere. one good thing about the position of this jet stream, temp wise it's quite mild !
  3. wow. in the case of 1 minute it's gone completely white with hail stones everywhere ! Lightning too. yeh first one of 2014 ! Just north of Royston
  4. NDBC buoy in the Atlantic has pressure and wind speed dropping very quickly nowpressure drop on buoy 62029Map of all buoys in the Atlantic near the UKAltantic buoy's
  5. I have never tried it, but can anyone actually drive a car in 80mph side winds ?Id imagine you'd get blown about everywhere on a motorway (driving slower of course).Has anyone had experience of driving in really bad side winds ?I am only asking as it would appear that the country will be attempting to go to work when the worst of the storm is on us on Monday.
  6. Front past through now, quite active convection as well. Looking at the met radar this rain storm (If I can call it that) is building as it moves east
  7. Some very potent rain shows in the past 20 minutes here near Royston, Herts.
  8. send a CV to this place :- http://www.ttpgroup.com/jobs/current_vacancies/
  9. Convection observed here just north of Royston as this rain band is coming through. Clouds are building and building...
  10. Some very heavy rain now showing up on the met radar at Luton. Various aircraft in hold as the rain is too heavy to land
  11. Holy moo, gravity shift as well. I cant deal with snow and gravity reversals all at the same time. Is it snowing upwards there ? :-)
  12. maybe the cat is saying:- get out stay out get the fire brigade out (the 80's tv advert) lol
  13. I can confirm that in Stevenage it looked like a slight dusting of snow had occurred. Once I got out of Stevenage it looks like a white winter wonderland. Everything turned white with freezing fog. quite dangerous on the A1m. Even the motorway was white in places I cant confirm temperatures though.
  14. here in stevenage not snowing but the frozen fog feels like its snowing (tingling) on the hands from the frozen ice crystals. stupidly cold out there
  15. Looking at the Radar there is plenty happening to the south and north of me but as usual sod all happening on the North Herts / South Cambs border. Oh what an anticlimax :-)
  16. Thanks. I only found this web site last week and have been following since. Anyway sorry for the thread drift. back on track, I want thunderstorms, brimstone, fire and raining newts. Bring it on !
  17. Am I reading this wrong (I hope that I am) but where the met office has warnings out for, nothing is kicking off As a matter of fact there is no rain in these locations with the warning. I have to look as far west as Wales to see any rain. So within this Amber warning area where are the storms likely to start off ? will the rain band from the north travel south or will the rain band in the south move north ?
