Very heavy rain when I left at 7.40am in Stevenage. And one lightning strike. the road looked like a river with so much water everywhere. one good thing about the position of this jet stream, temp wise it's quite mild !- 784 replies

I have never tried it, but can anyone actually drive a car in 80mph side winds ?Id imagine you'd get blown about everywhere on a motorway (driving slower of course).Has anyone had experience of driving in really bad side winds ?I am only asking as it would appear that the country will be attempting to go to work when the worst of the storm is on us on Monday. -

Holy moo, gravity shift as well. I cant deal with snow and gravity reversals all at the same time. Is it snowing upwards there ? :-)- 796 replies

I can confirm that in Stevenage it looked like a slight dusting of snow had occurred. Once I got out of Stevenage it looks like a white winter wonderland. Everything turned white with freezing fog. quite dangerous on the A1m. Even the motorway was white in places I cant confirm temperatures though.

Am I reading this wrong (I hope that I am) but where the met office has warnings out for, nothing is kicking off As a matter of fact there is no rain in these locations with the warning. I have to look as far west as Wales to see any rain. So within this Amber warning area where are the storms likely to start off ? will the rain band from the north travel south or will the rain band in the south move north ?
