There are fires in other places it's only scary scenes because they are only showing London not fires from the rest of UK.
Was more in reference to the fact that its multiple houses up in flames, looks like something from a disaster movie

They are.
Not seeing any higher temps on the 4pm obs, I think Coningsby has won it.
What did Coningisby hit? still catching up with things from today!

Truly scary scenes coming out of London

Doncaster & Humberside both showing 40c on Weatherobs, not sure if rounded or not though

Anyone fancy a guess at how many official stations have broken past the 38.7 barrier

Gringley on the Hill, which was 36.8C at the last reading.
Ridiculous really, the network needs updating, we could miss a record temp today due to lack of coverage

What's the closest official station to Worksop/Retford
Expect we could see the record gone close to there
-
Cambridge & London City now both at 35c
I'm off out for the day, 20c down here in Cornwall, absolutely unreal variance from the east, enjoy guys

You should all come down to Cornwall it's a lovely evening here, not too hot to sleep either!
Absolutely surreal that it'll be 20~°c down here tomorrow and possibly 20°c hotter back at home.

Said it earlier I think, but I very much doubt we'll see another day like tomorrow for at least 20 years. People will say that's ott because it's been three years since July 2019, but we're talking about smashing a record by 1.3c or more here, and the setup of the plume is about the most extreme and fierce you're ever going to get in this country. And at the perfect time of year too, within a 10 day window.
Temps are obviously rising with global warming, but it's entirely possible that the temperature achieved tomorrow will be a very longstanding record.Honestly wouldn't bank on it buddy, 38.5 seemed un-breachable to me, then 2019 comes along, then here we are again a mere 3 years later..

38.1c makes today the 3rd hottest day on record right?

I suppose attention now turns to the overnight min record.
Looking at UKV some parts of North Wales won't drop below 28c.
England 26/27c near Manchester.

4 stations realistically in reach of the record, none have updated since around 3pm, the wait begins

37.1 Hawarden, new record for Wales by some margin

So glad that Coningsby has got the record, 40.3c and no "iTs nExT tO a RuNwAy" rubbish like there would be if Heathrow retained top spot
