well you missed a lot of action up here, BUT whats it like there at moment, looks horrendous on the radar, I have family and friends pitching a tent this evening in St Ives, on the radar it looks like monsoon weather
ha ha.
Fairly heavy rain right now, things looking decent for tomorrow and friday though
-
Blimey last nights flop has made you move house!!!!!!!!
Haha i wish mate! Been here all week so i missed last nights flop by a long way!
-
Nothing here other than light rain, hopefully that rain off the coast gets abit more electrified!
Im in Cadgwith, Cornwall
-
Done an animation of the Midlands storms using radar data from weatheronline.co.uk , here it shows the storms bloom over Nottingham, impressive rain rates.
Times of the frames are 1630-1940hrs
Fast speed:
Slow speed:
Becoming abit of a hotspot atm!

Well looks like Chesterfield took another hit today, il bet my life that when i get back home, all the storm action moves down here to cornwall!
-
Looks like 2 cells are active currently, 1 north of Oxford and one SE of Reading
-
Certainly the most active period since June 28th last year! And good to see that so many people got some night time lightning for once!
-
Possibly another line of cells developing from Chesterfield SE to Nottingham?
-
Going mad everywhere now! Cells all over the radar
-
Pretty much, yeah. We got more than we usually get though, so I'll take it, and there's still all night and tomorrow to hope for something.
Aye good luck mate, under normal circumstances i would much rather be down here in cornwall! But right now id much rather be back home waiting for a storm! Keep us updated and good luck to everybody else for some night time action.
-
Of course, the storm missed us ever so slightly. Still, I saw lightning and thunder, but I'm sure all of the people from Chesterfield in this thread are sick of being teased like this.
Did it follow the path of the M1? Thats what usually seems to happen
-
Looks like the Notts storm has just sat there over the area between Chesterfield, Worksop and Nottingham!
Its been going for over 2 hours now in pretty much the same place
-
I can hear thunder now. I bet it misses me by two miles though...
So painful to watch the radar right now! Normally i would be 2 miles away however right now im about 250 away!
-
Nothing here now although constant non stop flashes looking east towards the M1 and towards Mansfield
Head up to Ashover Rock you will see a great show from there!
Its torture watching the radar and knowing that its all action back home!
-
Rumbling away in the distance to the south. That one over Derby has exploded into life and seems to be heading for us
Dont make me anymore jealous please!
Typical that home would get a storm when im on holiday, looks like Nottingham is in for a battering aswell.
-
Horrible knowing that my home town looks like its in for a battering and im 250 miles away!
-
Fellow brontophobe here. I know exactly what you're going through, although luckily we don't seem to be in the firing line today (or hopefully tomorrow) we did have a nasty MCS overhead last month that lasted a good hour-and-a-half. If I think a storm's coming, I find something alcoholic to drink. If I'm tipsy it makes it alot easier to deal with. In fact, I've even managed to ignore storms pretty successfully when I've had a few.
Just sit tight, and remember that eventually it HAS to end. It can't go on forever. All you have to do is get through it! If you need someone to talk to, message me.
Im not far down the coast from you in Cadgwith and im pretty sure we are not in the firing line for this week.
I also once was petrified of storms, but this fear turned into interest after watching several storm chasing programs and experiencing some great storm events in 2005 and 2006.
-
So jealous of all you folks in the potential storm areas! Good luck on finally seeing some good action everybody!
-
going to be hell for the next 36 hours or so
Come and swap places with me down here in Cornwall!
-
Mad is not the word! Looks like back home is in for some action and im down here in Cornwall getting nothing!
-
Literally everywhere in the country is included in the Estofex warning apart from where i am! (Extreme SW)
-
Some amazing shots, keep em coming! Glad some of us are getting some night time storms at last
-
Actually cannot believe that the week im down here in Cornwall, it all looks good for storms back home, typical eh
-
A few rumbles , more lightening than anything , and one heavy downpour
Dont make us too jealous
