  1. Recorded a low of -5.6 last night here in Haywards Heath - may not have seen any snow from this cold spell but there have been some notable minimum temperatures over the past few nights.
  2. Just a bit of cold rain here in Haywards Heath but now firmly in the gap between the two bursts of ppn - looks like we won’t get anything unless the ppn southwest of London swings round and clips us.
  3. Not sure how accurate my weather station is as it’s not particularly expensive but having said that I’m pretty much slap bang under the -6, can’t remember my area ever being the coldest!
  4. Can’t help but feel responsible for the about turn on the models as I ordered a sledge off Amazon yesterday
  5. West Sussex has to have been up there amongst the most snowless counties this winter ?
  6. Light snow in Haywards Heath, this band seems to be starting to weaken though. Is the ppn in East Anglia genuine? Seems like it appeared from nowhere very quickly!
  7. Nice way to finish the cold spell here with some prolonged moderate snow in Haywards Heath adding another cm or so and making everything briefly white again!
  8. Ever get the feeling it’s just not your night and it won’t come any closer? Fully expecting it to fizzle out over the Channel, but would love to be wrong!
  9. Today is a very bad day to be a snow-loving Arsenal fan in West Sussex
  10. Didn’t expect anything from this but I’m inside the amber warning so feeling more optimistic. Is anyone else worrying about rising temperatures though? Up to about -1 here, dp about -3 so still some wiggle room but don’t want them to keep on climbing!
  11. Have to say I’m quite disappointed with this cold spell in Haywards Heath, probably due to my unrealistic expectations to be fair. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great to have genuine cold and some snow this late in the season, but this hasn’t come close to March 2013, let alone 2009/2010 down here. 2-3 inches on Tuesday morning which started to melt in the sun meaning roads were basically clear by the afternoon, some snow in sheltered spots still but not a lot. I was hoping for a good top up today but we have a few flakes in the wind and nothing else, and can’t see much else coming our way? It’s been more interesting than normal late February/early March weather but if we’re not going to get another decent covering I’m ready for it to warm up and for Spring to start!
  12. All the showers seem to be dying on Haywards Heath’s doorstep... still, can’t complain - plenty of snow this morning and hopefully more to come on Thursday and Friday!
  13. Decent covering in Haywards Heath now, shows that when you get a direct hit from a shower it can turn things white pretty quickly. Hoping for lots more direct hits over the next 12+ hours!
  14. Clouded over in Haywards Heath, West Sussex - hoping for the first flakes to come soon! Temperature around freezing, dp -3
  15. The flow looks WSW to me on the meto radar, but being in Sussex I’m very happy to be wrong about this?
  16. Dreamt last night that all the snow this week was off - may have spent too much time in the model thread reading about potential breakdown. Relieved to wake up from the nightmare! So looking forward to a week of radar and lamppost watching and then getting out and about in it - hoping all our snow itches have been scratched by the time we get to the end of Tuesday, then anything else is a bonus! ?
  17. Officially excited now, enough to trawl back through years of photos on my Facebook to find a picture of the snow in Haywards Heath in March 2013 (the last time we had anything more than a sprinkling of snow here). That snowfall featured the best drifting I’ve ever seen in the UK, which isn’t saying much as I’ve lived in Haywards Heath for all but 4 years of my life, but the snow spoiler on my car that day made it look much cooler than it actually was.
  18. Becoming more hopeful for significant snow next week here in Haywards Heath, West Sussex - it’s been a frustrating winter but that will all be forgotten if we get a decent fall of snow and a proper easterly is always going to be our best chance here! Looking forward to hearing reports and seeing pictures in the not-too-distant future ?
  19. Another light dusting in Haywards Heath - maybe pushing its way up to 0.5cm on some surfaces. Just enough to hear a small squeak underfoot as you walk!
  20. Small dusting of snow in Haywards Heath - nothing impressive but the most lying snow I’ve seen since March 2013 so enough to convince me to make the move from long-time-lurker to first-time-poster. Meto radar doesn’t seem to be doing what it should so not sure if we’ll get any more this morning or not!
