Further snowfall will spread from the west, as another weather front moves eastwards across the UK. Snow will reach parts of Scotland during Friday morning, and eastern parts of England during the late evening, likely to clear these eastern areas by the early hours of Saturday. 4 to 8 cm is likely quite widely within the amber warning area, with a low risk of more than 10 cm locally even on lower ground. Further north, accumulations of 10 to 20 cm may occur in some upland areas. Strong winds will also lead to drifting and blizzard-like conditions, particularly over higher level roads in the north.

john hammond has said he expects the warning in place for friday for the north east to be upgraded later on today

mmmmmm the breakdown has been delayed on the ecm by another 24 hrs, are the models underestimating the cold block, we have had a few lows from the atlantic try and it hasnt happened and on thurs we have -8 uppers some very cold air above so why do we expect this low on friday just to fly through and easily push the cold air aside, im still learning so i might be talking absolute rubbish, apologies if i am

depends what if any the effects are from the sswMore chance of a fly pig morphing into a unicorn in my cereal than that happening in February. As good as it would be.

just had drive through to chilton heavy snow there and 6-8 inchs, infact we stopped off and built a snowman lol the kids wanted too honest
-
yeah i agree like i said the other day one went down my road for the first time ever, yeah the snow has melted leaving the snow we had before it started which is weird but i suppose the old snow will be colder having frozen overnightGot a few snow flakes here in darlo again
All of this mornings snow has gone now and amazingly the council sent a gritter down my road have to say Darlington council are doing a grand job this winter the town centre pavements are clear and safe the main roads are fine and they even have gritters on the back of the pavement sweepers
really i thought the next cold spell would be around the 4-7th febim expecting a decent snowfall in darlo soon probably the end of the snowfall for quite some time, at least the 10th of feb probably

looking at it the ppn coming out of holland is coming this way and the stuff coming out of germany northumberland by the looks of it im probs wrong,, link http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur
-
thats currently the direction its going so fingers crossedwhether it hits Teesside is another matter
-
temp is currently 1.5 n we never get a gritter on my road but one has just gone past might be a good sign, n that ppn coming out of holland and germany is getting closer infact it looks like one big conveur beltYeah like I said before today is the last chance for us realistically this afternoon and evening are likely to see more snow whether any settles is another matter with the ground been so wet and slushy after which things will turn more settled with Ice becoming the main hazard
I've just got back from clearing the slushy mess outside and it doesn't feel all that cold TBH Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week were a lot colder than today
