I thought it was just more of a lull while the upper flow changes GS.
I've been watching a couple of showers and they're continuing to track SW. I just think it's going to be a couple of hours before they hit the likes of Newcastle and even longer for Teesside.
Will be surprised if anyone a couple of miles or more inland don't get all snow. Possibly sleety on the coast, but with dew points comfortably below zero and temps just above, most will be fine.
Let's not get carried away haha, having worked in Thornaby for 3 years I know how much of a snow-free zone it is! A sugar coating there is the equivalent of 6 inches anywhere else.
Now we're getting somewhere, showers beginning to move south from east of Scotland and some activity getting going off the coast of Nothumberland at last.
Looks like an intense line of snow in the north sea heading for Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumberland etc in the next couple of hours.
Don't think it's going to affect Teesside.
It is still snowing in the new snow capital of the NE - Middlesbrough.
Unfortunately it's about 2/10 for intensity and small grains, as it has been for the majority of the cold spell.
Don't know how accurate Accuweather is but it says temp in Boro at the minute is 1c, with a DP of -1c, so if it is rain when the heavier stuff starts i'll be miffed.
Snowmageddon, where abouts in Linthorpe are you, over towards the Dormans?
Hasn't been much of a cover here all week, very little in tact on the pavements.
46 feet asl here lol. About 6 miles from the coast as well so in a pretty bad spot for tonight/tomorrow but fingers crossed we get some luck as the maximum depth here during this cold spell has been 3-4cm on the grass and 1cm on pavements.
