It’s started here too!! 15 minutes in and the cars and patio are covered already. Bring on snowmaggon!!!

Still absolutely nothing here between Newbury and Basingstoke. One of the most benign evenings for a ping time
-
Nothing here in Kingsclere in rural North Hampshire yet.
-
It was -6.5c in Ecchinswell, near Kingsclere, in North Hampshire this morning.
We look to be in a good spot for a bit this evening. My Panda 4x4 is desperate to be used in anger!

Totally agree, I think the next couple of days model watching will define the rest of winter. Looking forward to the 12z ECM.
Don't be so ridiculous. The charts have consistently failed to be accurate beyond 4 days and can't even give clarity on what next weekend looks like, let alone the remaining 9 weeks of winter...

I've got to drive up an Alp tomorrow afternoon.
I really hope the weekend isn't written off, as Saturday - Monday is the only skiing I've been able to book this year!
-
<gulp> We fly out for a long weekend on Friday. The drive up the hill past Megeve is going to be "interesting"...
-
We're flying to Geneva on Friday for a long weekend skiing just outside Megeve. Looking at the mid term forecast, things are looking "interesting" for next weekend to say the least!
I rather hope the models have over estimated the potential storm next weekend, or it comes through earlier and quicker than currently tracked!!

Rather than go through each output it's easier to put them into clusters for cold potential:
So GFS, GFS P, JMA, GEM, NAVGEM basically garbage!
I nearly forgot the UKMO, that's also dire at T144hrs!
Output like the above doesn't deserve any fancy terms, if they're going to dish out dire outputs they get what they deserve!
The ECM, in any other winter this would be met with a shrug of the shoulders however given the rest of the outputs it scrapes into the modicum of interest category.
Overall a depressing evening for coldies bar the SS ECM which is now picking up Netweather survivors although worries that it may capsize at anytime given its now overloaded!
The reverse zonal flow towards the polar region offers a glimmer of hope and the ECM deals with the PV differently but we're going to need some Hollywood scriptwriters to plot a route to cold within T240hrs.
More likely any cold will need the next strat warming but at least the ECM delivers a little interest this evening which to be frank wouldn't be difficult given the rest of the outputs.
Which has been the most accurate model thus far this winter?

This thread will be locked shortly and a new one will be made for the pub run. Time for a clean slate.
Might it be possible to have a little less willy waving from some posters in the next thread?

I spoke to my Father in Sandbanks and he said it is a tad breezy down there at the moment!Well it aint puffing down here i can tell you!

I'm about 4 miles south east of Newbury and its breezy, but isn't THAT bad! Reading some of the posts on here would have you think it's blowing a sustained 60 / 70kts up here. It really isn't. Maybe a sustained 35 / 40 with puffs up to 55 or so.

I would like to see Tamara's input.
Of all the opinons posted on here over the past few weeks, she has been the most consistent in calling cold for end Jan / early Feb.

Yet, we've had less than a dozen frost here in North Hampshire all winter.
I do hope it would either get cold and snow hard now, or 9I$$ off and warm up. It feels like its been 3c and grey for weeks now
-
Absolutely not a sausage here in Kingsclere, North Hampshire. Not even a flake. I'd like to see we 1 final chance, but I'm not feeling too hopeful
-
Still snowing in North Hants

Lazy wet snow mixing with the rain here just outside Newbury

It's just started here in Kingsclere, Hampshire
-
Does anyone think it'll come as far East as Newbury?
-
It's been snowing relatively hard here on Kingsclere for the past 30 minutes or so
-
Still snowing 4 miles SE of Newbury. That's now 16 hours uninterrupted snowfall - superb!
-
Very fine, but very persistent snow here in Kingsclere. Looking at raintoday, the front edge has just reached

Very still, but VERY cold here, just East of Newbury. I'm not expecting much until the early hours, though

It was bananas around Kingsclere, North Hampshire on Friday. Around 2pm, it just hammered down with snow and didn’t let up at all. We’ve still got around 10 - 12cm lying on all surfaces.
