Personally Chris I wouldn't bother. The A38 from Almondsbury to Alveston was terrible a couple of hours ago. I should imagine it's got worse by now.Hey guys anyone know how the roads are in Filton/stoke Gifford? Going to try venture to work if safe to do so.
Time to measure how much snow outside...looks a lot

Hi Mattser, yeah I would play it safe. Just back from Asda, Patchway and the Mall area is terrible. Not many people on the roads so the snows just going to pile up!im supposed to be travling to swindon but have heared that old sodbury has been closed, think ill leave it a bit and see if it improves

Wind seems to be picking up and snow just getting heavier and heavier. Anyone needing to hit the road in the South Glos area, I would say don't bother!

Just been for a quick spin in the van. A38 from Almondsbury to Alveston is becoming treacherous, it doesn't appear to have been gritted!! Even through Pilning and Easter Compton at low levels it's becoming very dicey. Then up through the Mall area into Patchway becoming treacherous again!

It's been all snow in Bristol mate and heavy too!Just reading on another forum that its raining in South west wales and Bristol.
-
Ok it's been snowing for an hour in Patchway and everything is white! Snowing quite heavily and heavier stuff still to come. Loving it!!

Just started snowing steadily in Patchway, South Glos.

Liking the Points West forecast and the graphics for the next few days looked very interesting indeed!!

Yep I'm self employed so may well give myself a day off too!
-
Very possible.I think nearer the time we will see some red warnings, if only to keep people of the roads.
-
Morning all. Well 24 hours until the snow is due to arrive and it's still looking good! Looking at the latest outputs I wouldn't be surprised to see the Meto amber warning being extended a little further south, east and west. Interesting times ahead!

Morning all. Well we had all of five minutes of sleet/snow here in North Bristol/South Glos last night. All eyes towards Friday and the weekend now when it looks like we'll possibly see something far more widespread and substantial. Anyway take care on those icy roads this morning.

My pleasure Ian. It's now turned to snow!

Sleet in Patchway, North Bristol.

It's just started snowing in Patchway, North Bristol!

Morning all. The Met Office weather maps are showing a good 6 or 7 hours snow for some of us overnight so it could have been a lot worse. It's a shame the second band of precipitation appears, at the moment, to be mainly rain. Oh well, I have a feeling there will be a few more chances of snow over the coming week with the cold weather in place.

Hi all! My first post on this forum. I have always been really interested in the weather so took the plunge and joined this great site. I'm not great at reading the model outputs but am looking forward to learning. In the mean time I can at least give the latest weather reports from here in Patchway, South Glos during weather events. Anyway here's hoping for some nice cold winter weather towards the second half of January and the remainder of winter.
