Sadly we suspect not. Current positioning & areal extent has good model support. UKV prognosis of 30-40mm even as far east as the S Downs and parts of Hants etc all indicative of broader potential for trouble beyond just the SW/W Country later tomorrow night into Thurs AM.
I suspect your right Ian, looking like another busy weekend for us on call with Wessex 4x4 response after a busy period only two week ago helping residents in Devon and Cornwall cut off by flood water, rivers in the area still not recovered.

Hmmmm........just took a look at the weather station to find it reading -1.3c.......wasn't expecting that tonight, just had to scrape the ice of the car before popping out.
Won't be long before temperatures start rising ahead of the rain band though, lets just hope this system can stay west slightly as has been trending to save us from the worst.

Thanks for the updates Ian, it sounds like a very fluid situation, rivers in the area are still only just below bursting point. It's ging to be a very interesting 48 hours with more expected over the weekend.

It's like a skating rink out there at the moment. A grit lorry has turned over on the road in Swanage causing travel issues for that area.
Local paper says "Road blocked with a shed load of grit"
Well if the lorry was full it would be a shed load and norra lickle bit
Yeah its really bad after the overnight showers re-froze. Lots of incidents being reported across the county including the overturned gritting lorry that has now been moved but still close as they are working to remove the grit.
Police are advising that roads in the local area have not been gritted this morning due to the accident, doh!

What a beautiful day after a chilly start of -5.0c at 6am temperatures have now climed to a dizzy 1.9c, still plenty of frost about in the shade.
We seem to now be over the chaos that the icy roads caused this morning with lots of accidents and roads closed being reported in the area.
Looking like another period of very interesting weather heading our way after tomorrow with possible snow Thursday and storms Friday, going to be one to watch me thinks.

Indeed, lets just hope the public heed the warnings and stay home in the most affected areas, could do without rescuing shoppers and sightseers from puddles.
