Just heard thunder...kicking off already?
-
Wow! Heard the thunder a fair distance away, nodded off and was woken by very near lightning and thunder that seemed to rip the sky and shake the flat! tried to find camera but as soon as I turned the light on, the lights dipped. Watched the lightning streak across the sky.
It's like the storms I remember when I was a kid in the 80s!

Very hot sun earlier, humid with dark clouds now. Radar interesting but will it amount to anything?
-
Another middle distance rumble here - north/ east this time?
Meanwhile the lightshow to the west rumbles on and I sit here with lightning envy!
-
Still 19.c, rain now.
...and bang! knew that was coming! Lightning - thunder 2 seconds later!
-
Huge flashes to the west of High Wycombe - beautiful. Anything from 5 seconds to two minutes between flashes.
edit: sorry - I meant west! I forgot which flat I was in!!
-
Gone dark here in High Wycombe...a bit of a breeze too. Is that rain over Oxford heaving here?
-
And we're off again in high Wycombe east... torrential rain and thunder... rain getting heavier still... the rain has blasted and upturned all the little plastic flowerpots filled with soil and seedlings (sob!), the road outside is a river. It's never good when you hear the fire brigade after a storm..but it has left we wondering why on earth we were taking off the weather warning... this is dangerous driving weather.

Third storm in under an hour, not that there's been much of a gap!

Definitely some rotation within these clouds might get video going...
Yep, lots of different directions of movement within a cloud here, tried to video on my crappy phone but no luck.
Also.... it looking like the low, whispy loud was rising from the horizon!!
There's only one way to describe the clouds today.......sexy.
-
Ok well that was 'moderately biblical'... torrential rain, thunder ever minute or less for a good ten minutes and epic sinister clouds.
Going north over high Wycombe, if you get it... enjoy!!!
-
South east of high Wycombe 8 to 10 minutes ago, lightning, thunder a second after. Thought i'd chance popping to the shops thinking there won't be anything for a while, boy was I wrong!!
-
Amazing lightning strike here just after 1pm...more like a bang than a crack, like a bomb going off! Shook the flat, stunning.

Had to get up outta bed I've got the most awful headache, blurred vision too!!! I normally get headaches when there's a thunderstorm so I'm assuming this too is weather related!!! Meds and tiger balm not kicking in, so I've got up and come downstairs, friend on FB in Hastings has no power, fence panels gone and roof tiles slipping by the dozen! My huskies sleep outside in their lovely big kennel but tonight they indoors snoring on the floor in my bedroom, can't be trusted anywhere else in the house we would wake to the tree and presents eaten lol
I have a strange headache too, I'm sure I get them when there's very low pressure.
Huge, window-rattling gust a few moments ago near High Wycombe. Is that squall line going to miss us? it looks like it's going north.
-
Nice to hear that clap of thunder, albeit in the distance!!
We only got hail here, but my partner in Great Missenden said there was wet snow there for a while.
-
SE, Home Counties and the Capital looking favourable later, a likelihood of locally torrential downpours, hail, lightning and thunder at times.
And that's exactly what we got here near High Wycombe in the last hour!
Also a few rumbles at around 7am this morning. As I type I can hear thunder again in the distance, to the south west. I think this is the most thundery activity we've had all year.

Torrential rain here east of High Wycombe in the last hour, so much thunder, many C to G strikes - wow!

So it's look the met have seen somethign that isn't there. Oh dear.
I have literally lost count of the amount of times that has happened this year.
We may be in luck later. Just hit 26.c here and so muggy. Call me a psychosomatic hippy if you like but I've got a 'weather headache' - the type I only get if it's going to thunder later. I'm going to look a right fool when we get zilch in the way of thunder later!!

Random distant flash but no thunder on walk home to the south west of here.
-
wowzer..tropical thundery monsoon here! If it's coming your way...enjoy!!
-
Torrential rain and overhead thunder just east of High Wycombe...yay!!!
-
Hiya, quick question from a meteorological novice. When people talk of stormclouds, they always say look out for an anvil cloud, but I have problems identifying them. I am just looking out the window now and can see this cloud...please more experienced people, is this what is referred to as an anvil cloud? Thanks.

Its showing 'some' potential to the south. Incredibly dark, would assume its cb-ish. Surprised there isn't more south-centralites in here...perhaps in regional threads.
Not a sausage in High Wycombe, no rain,no thunder...just dark skies.
EDIT: oh correction, light rain just starting.
