The met office latest update for NI gives snow now. Was rain earlier today. Will this impact the region
-
Looks like NI is in the frame for snow now for Friday. After issuing a warning for snow yesterday they lifted it today
I'm aware this isn't a regional thread but if the front doesn't progress as far east then it has obvious knock on effects for parts of the British mainland with less snowfall totals
I'm far from an expert and hoping someone can give me their opinion as to what they think will happen on Friday and include NI in their answer
Thanks a lot everyone

I checked out channel4 weather's "Snow risk" chart earlier today. At best it showed a 20pc chance at certain times on Friday
However, now it has upgraded it to 60pc chance for certain times on friday. Nothing of any great substance but obviously a step in the right direction

I'm not sure Downburst. I'm just saying it's possible for temps to drop that quick with snow cover and clear skies
There does seem to be a half decent chance of getting snow at some stage over the weekend/start of next week
-
DownBurst that temp drop is indeed possible,If it is snowing or cloudy @15.00 then clear @18.00 with snow lying it's plausible
One example would be back in December 2010,it was -2/3 at st.Angelo's in Fermanagh at midnight with snow and come 1am the temp dropped to -12

Happy for people in Eastern NI with the yellow warning of snow on NIW as a previous poster noticed
BUT it ain't much use to much in Eastern Donegal ha,ugh what a tease

Not going to bother watching BBC NI weather
-
Clicking on Fridays 24 hour FC,the bbc have it snowing by 3pm in Omagh last updated an hour while the metoffice update at 2pm didn't show it until 6pm
It's a start at least

I'd take a Northerly any day over the easterly
-
40mm of rain would be over a foot? maybe I'm wrong not sure on that. Not looking good for me in Eastern Donegal anyway
-
Met office just issued a RAIN warning for us. Jebus Christ. 20-40mm of rain with hill and coastal gales with a risk of WET snow above 200m
I'm sickened beyond belief. Such a pile of crap

Indeed, the latest ECM output is superb. Heights growing to our North just above everywhere

Can't believe met.ie new "update"
Rain will gradually clear from Leinster and Ulster during Friday morning as brighter skies develop across the country. By mid-afternoon on Friday most places will be bright and dry, although showers will start to affect counties near the west coast. Daytime temperatures will be about average, ranging 6 to 9 degrees, but it quickly gets cold after dark and a widespread severe frost will set in on Friday night, that will continue right through to Saturday morning. Otherwise Saturday will be a bright cold day that will be mostly dry and with highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees. On Saturday night rain will develop across the country and the rain will continue to persist in many places right through Sunday. It will be a wet 24 hours with rainfall in excess of 25 mm in many places. For the start of next week the weather remains mainly dry and bright but cold with highest daytime temperatures around 4 or 5 degrees and severe frosts at night
