Had a flash of lightning this morning - followed by a terrifying boom. Some moderately heavy rain falling at the moment.
-
Cloudfest down here! Someone help me before I die of boredom!

Raining like there's no tomorrow here! A few flashes of lightning too, can hear the thunder.
-
Sonning Bridge closed again due to flooding......traffic problems all over Reading

The Reading Wind Shield must've been activated today, not a leaf moving O_o
Apart from the odd gust or so, that is.
-
Some pretty heavy rain here but nothing particularly unusual going on.
-
Storm's gone. Time to go out and about!

Winds easing here. I think that's it......or is it?
-
Lots of wind here too - I just got woken up by a gust! The wind is constantly howling!!!I can hear the wind blowing outside loudly and pine needles banging into the window, quite scary!
-
That is, if it doesn't blow over!Presumably erecting a new wind turbine, to take advantage?

I hope this won't be a huge farce because then I would've wasted my whole weekend waiting for some fish to enjoy high winds ._.
-
Absolutely! We are in the zone. I need to go and secure my garden furniture and anything else that may be whipped up as a missile. I have a huge tree opposite me with quite a few dead branches so I fear for it's strength now.
The fact that the trees still have most of their leaves is a huge problem as the wind doesn't whip through them like when the leaves have dropped.
Sorry, not meaning to scare you!
Yes through early hours of Monday morning. Some strong wind gusts of 50-60mph for Oxon/Berks area. A lot of heavy rain aswell which will add further woe with our area seeing a lot of rain in the last few weeks after a mostly dry settled summer.
My guess is that my location is likely to receive 40mph to 50mph gusts at tops. Having said that, I am in a valley and I very rarely receive winds above 40mph. Winds above 40mph however, are potentially life-threatening. If you are in a vulnerable location, i.e. prone to windy spells from experience, my advice is to stay indoors and wait to see what Monday morning brings.
Thanks guys, I'll try and make sure I keep safe by sleeping downstairs, and I guess if those huge trees fall down they'll fall down on the car which keeps on coming back "for sale" every 2 days
That'll teach the dude a lesson for trying to sell cars on public grass!

Any chance of Berkshire being heavily affected by the storm? I live by some very tall trees , and I don't want to be squashed in my sleep! :O
-
There's giant tall trees in my garden, at least 2.7 times taller than the house.
I just hope for me and my neighbour's sake they don't fall down - they look quite weak and narrow.
If not, we'll still have to clear up all the pine needles, lol.
-
Calmed down here. Was that it? :O
Still can hear thunder though.
-
Very loud thunder again here, rain slightly lighter.
-
The heavens have opened! Lots and lots of rain and some thunder & lightning!
-
Nothing here just yet.....looking hopeful though as the storms move in closer...
-
Judging by the direction of which the storms are going, my area is right in the firing line :O

And here in Reading there's sunshine with no rain in sight
EDIT: 100th post?! Woo hoo!
-
You gotta be kidding me man! I'm like 1 or 2 miles away from that shower over Reading and it's taking a diversion!
I blame the highway agency
-
OK - Skies very dark now, but no more rumbles of thunder...yet
This one might hit us for a change.
-
Shower overheard now turned very dark. Can hear rumbles of thunder (unless it's bins closing) but as usual it's heading away from me.
-
Loud rumble of thunder here.
