Hey guys, sorry for the IMBYism but what do you think the chances are in relation to heavy snow tonight and tomorrow for us in 'snow shield' Poole?

hi don't know how to post charts yet as I have joined but the NAE has Snow down through Oxfordshire Berkshire and Hampshire at 6 pm this evening but rain to the west , Dorset etc.
Ok thank you! I think we'll get some before this evening though!

Hi newbie here, latest NAE shows Snow making it almost down to the South Coast. I am in Pompey temp currently 4degrees so rain I suppose is more likely here. Feels colder though so fingers crossed.

Yes, it's like being in a snow globe, looking out of my window. Absolutely fantastic stuff! The blob that is bringing this seems to be intensifying, if anything.

Just started to drizzle here in Southampton. But there is the odd white lump in it!

the main band (which is south of here) looks relatively heavy as the posts about Hindhead etc above seem to support. It'll be interesting - it was falling as sleet earlier along the sussex coast.
Edit: just seen Polar Bear's post from chichester - more promising!
A poster from Gosport has reported sleet so it really will be touch and go! I've told people to look out the window in an hour or so... Wish us luck!

falling properly here now. Apparently it is "sleety" further west - can't believe it will be snow at home in bournemouth? (if it makes it that far west).
I'm in Poole and a bit concerned that it will be sleet? How heavy is this precipitation?

In Poole the sky is starting to look very 'snow fueled'. Am I being blinded by hope or do we stand any chance?

Looking at the 3.45 Met office Radar the very heavy stuff (reds appearing) "looks" to be heading pretty much in our direction, the whole band also looks pretty epic to be honest.
Also as we are further north and the band is pulling in colder air, and it's getting towards nigh time this could be pretty dam good if we are lucky.
Cant look, lol.

So poole has been forecast for rain this entire time but it is chucking it down of snow so does that mean it will stay snow all evening?

I'm using a radar I down loaded an ap onto my idad, it's every 10min update to our reall time , and I can say for a certainty that there is a finger developing and pointing its finger at us , also it's pushing well toward to Southampton , and we no that's very centrally based so its already further west than it was forecast .
Hi, could you tell me what that app is called please and how much it costs?

Thank you kindly! Just hope the potential for Tuesday unfolds for us down in Poole. Concerned that the dew points won't below enough though? Please anyone convince me otherwise if you can.

UKMO has been pretty good of late, so the fact that shows good potential next week is fine by me, GFS will catch up.
Obviously, if the ECM disagrees too, then perhaps a rethink is needed, but hopefully the ECM will follow the UKMO and we will be counting down to round 2 soon.
When is the next ECM update?

currently watching that little slow moving shower heading East currently over Weymouth... c'mon keep going not far from Corfe Castle now but will it be rain,sleet or snow!
Do you have a radar link showing this please? I'm in hamworthy awaiting eagerly...the Sky is looking orange!!

I am in Poole and it is snowing again! Didn't see this coming.... It says rain is due tonight on metoffice, is this likely to fall as snow instead?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and model watching in general, I teach geography at secondary level and am fascinated with meteorology. When I get a chance I would love to learn how to draw my own conclusions from the models but for now I have just been following all of your expertise.
I live in Poole and know that we are renown for having a 'snow shield', like most of you guys, I'm sure, my friends are getting pretty annoyed with me getting their hopes up and them being smashed by rain in stead of snow. I have ramped to the extreme about tomorrow but am slightly worried about this event only falling as snow tomorrow. Realistically, taking into account wind direction, dew points, etc what are our chances here in Poole?
