Good luck to everyone, seems like some last minute upgrades were on the cards after all :-D
-
Thanks Craigers, missed It too. Looking good for those of us in the west. Hopefully, those in the east can join in the fun later on Friday.
-
What it looking like for West Yorks? Not quite as badly hit as South Yorkshire?
-
He is talking himself in to getting snow. This fax chart is for 00z Sunday http://www.meteociel...fax72s.gif?20-0 . http://www.meteociel...fax84s.gif?20-0
by which time it will have flirted with us and is on the retreat.
It will give snow. There are 12 hours between the two fax charts.
I agree, it seems like the entire model output thread has a southern bias No wonder some of us newbies were getting slightly worried...
-
well steve M seems to think some areas in yorkshire will miss out?
Morning the models continue to push south, the t54 gfs ppn shows the stall line now alligned
Devon up to se Ireland and the eastern extent
Suffolk up to liverpool,
So in a matter of 12 hours we have lost southern scotland, parts of yorks and linc and now the corner of EA....
Poss time for shifts but thats wheres its sat. Also more pulses of snow into the SE at t 78-90
ECM + UKMO are very similar...
I'm still skeptical that we're all going to miss out on the extent that Steve suggests. MetO still seems sure of Northern England being badly hit. Although the snow line has shifted south, there's still time for small corrections that could bring more of the north-east of our region into the picture.

Snowing quite heavily here now. Covering the cars and roofs very quickly and it's only been going about 10mins. Any idea how long it's supposed to go on for?
Where abouts in Hudds are you?
-
Any ideas on how far west these showers could push? (Huddersfield get in on some?)
+ From a quick glance through the model thread it seems that Fridays front may not even reach us?! Midlands looking like the best area to be atm. Still a lot of uncertainty and time for upgrades for our region.

What's the situation looking like for our region on Friday? Snow to rain, or will be looking at significant accumulations? :-)
-
Does the radar suggest any southward movement of the front or is it just keeping west?
-
Apart from the odd snow patch, nothing's settled in Huddersfield. The north sea showers have been poor.
To be fair, we did have a couple of decent showers this morning. Brought a nice covering in places.
-
Starting to settle on all surfaces now, but I'm still unconvinced for more than a dusting at the moment..
-
Struggling to explain it, can see from the webcams that it's hammering down five miles west, and ten miles east, but somehow for whatever reason all we've had here is a mix of light sleet and bits of snow
That's the infamous Huddersfield 'SNow Dome' in effect. Typical for us to miss out!

Just released from the Met Office
Lookin good for my area, think I'm just inside the darker band :-D Blizzards anyone?
-
In Huddersfield, we've had more from this "unforecasted" event than we did from Monday's! Keep it coming :-D
-
The forecast on BBC news 24 is a reet ord ramp! He just said ALL areas in the yellow (MO warning) to expect 10cm's! He was pretty bullish about it too!
He also said expect disruption to your life! I don't think he quite meant it to come out like that! haha!
I just saw that - talk about ramping or what?

Harsh climate, are those on top of what we've already got, or final totals for both events?
Thanks
