  1. My hubby is due to drive from Wandsworth to East Sussex today. What do you reckon? He's setting off at 10
  2. Back to this thread. Wandsworth v cold this evening, patches of snow still lying on roofs & cars
  3. Amazing that exactly the same discussions are being had about investment in snow management now, 40 yrs on from the estimated £200million repair bill of 1963...
  4. I am in our loft and I keep hearing HUGE crunching and sliding sounds as yesterday's 7cm of snow comes crashing off the roof! It's all very melty murky and ugly round here this morning
  5. Just walked home from the pub. It doesn't feel particularly cold. Light snow falling but not sticking. Paths all quite melt-y but still 5cm on cars
  6. OK to clarify. Melting in Wandsworth, South West London and ppn is reduced to v v light snow (slash sleet?)
  7. Icicles forming on the edge of my roof, will post a pic in a few mins
  8. Every branch big with it, Bent every twig with it; Every fork like a white web-foot; Every street and pavement mute: Some flakes have lost their way, and grope back upward when Meeting those meandering down they turn and descend again. The palings are glued together like a wall, And there is no waft of wind with the fleecy fall. A sparrow enters the tree, Whereon immediately A snow-lump thrice his own slight size Descends on him and showers his head and eye And overturns him, And near inurns him, And lights on a nether twig, when its brush Starts off a volley of other lodging lumps with a rush. The steps are a blanched slope, Up which, with feeble hope, A black cat comes, wide-eyed and thin; And we take him in. Thomas Hardy, 1840-1928
  9. V big flakes in SW London. Sticking to pavements, roofs and gardens but roads are clear
  10. Company has issued message to workers to leave immediately (Leatherhead & central London offices)
  11. I didn't have a ruler with me but when I went to the gym 30 mins ago measured with my finger on a flat surface. 2cm
  12. Got up SIX times in the night to look at lamp posts. Nothing at all. Received sneering email from colleagues this morning as I had suggested dialling in to meeting rather than get stranded in the snow. Come on SE snow we have to redeem ourselves!!
