  1. Hello all

I thought I would poke my nose in on a non-event weather occasion Posted Image  I usually post when there is something extreme happening but all I have to report is that my car windscreen was frozen when I left for the school walk this morning and that is the first time this year!  By the time I left for work it had defrosted but I fear that soon, I will have to scrape it Posted Image

I am looking forward to any snow that might come our way, and the excitement and lamp post watching on here when it is forecast Posted Image

    Hi Sungirl,

Talking car windscreens... mine was frozen on the inside this morning and that's a first!

Like you, looking foward to the snow, but don't feel ready for it quite yet...Posted Image

  2. Garden certainly appreciated this mornings downpour but even though fast and furious, the moisture burned off within moments! Couple of nice rumbles and a power outage at work (and the next village), for half an hour. Fan went off and under a tin roof upstairs... phew!

Back home and a quick stroll alongside the river to inhale some lovely Thames air and I noticed one of the large willows has shed a huge limb... right over the footpath near moorings! Despite being by water on the meadows, the trees are thirsty too!

Here's a quick tip from my 16 year old son, George... open the loft hatch to allow the warm air up a level allowing you fresher air from the ground level! Genius in the making!

    Sleep well, all.

  3. Well, last night's chilly wind took many of us by surprise, especially as we stood alongside The Thames being serenaded by melodies from The Beach Boys! I believe temperatures plummeted to around 11c! Brrr! But they still give out those... Good Vibrations!

Tonight, tunes from Jamie Cullum and on Friday, Madness! You've gotta love The Henley Festival but do wrap up for the twilight light hours!

  4. I, for one, hope this thread doesn't disppear until the next winter arrives. There are so many lovely weather types to report upon in differing degrees across our area and whilst I'm tucked away on the outskirts, I feel a certain camaraderie with several members having throughly enjoyed the jolly banter on offer since joining in January at the prospect of Snowmaggedon! And what exciting times the were too - remember Ryan The Dutch Weatherman in particular?!!

Today, I have worked outside in that harsh easterly, surveying trees, but was quite happy to return home for a cuppa whilst compiling the reports. Looking forward to a little sunshine along the river tomorrow... have a great weekend y'all! good.gif

  5. Feeling positive... there is some sunshine and the easterly has dropped back a little which is fab news for my friends Simon & Martin for Marie Curie and Ed & Ben for PTSD currently on their 24 hour race from Devizes to Westminster! If you happen to be on a bridge, near a lock or see these heroic gents racing along the waters, give them a holler of encouragement! It's a tough one but they will do it!

    clapping.gif Go boys, go!clapping.gif

    DID YOU KNOW:

The race is 125 miles long and has 77 portages. The first 52 miles are along the Kennet and Avon Canal to Reading, the next 55 miles are on the River Thames to Teddington. The final 17 mile section is on the tidal portion of the Thames.Yikes!fool.gifyahoo.gifclap.gif

    UPDATE AND RESULTS:

After 68 miles, Ed and Ben retired from the race. They were frozen; the canoe was icy and their clothes frosty. Their pace was becoming slower and slower. They made the right decision, along with 40 other retirees, to go home. A sterling effort indeed!

However, heroic Simon and Martin pushed on through these brutal conditions with sheer detirmination and completed the course along with 90 other canoes. They arrived in 22 hours 54 minutes putting them in 32nd position! That's endurance!

    Congratulations to them both!good.gifgive_rose.gifclap.gif

  7. The morning's welcome sunshine has been and gone... cray.gif to be replaced by heavy skies and an increasing breeze... . Bizarre Spring weather!fool.gif

So, are we due any ppn in these parts (Henley on Thames)? Or indeed, anywhere from Devizes to Westminster on Saturday as I have (mad...blum.gif) friends rowing overnight into Sunday... all in aid of charity though folks!

clapping.gif C'mon Simon and Martin for Marie Curie and Ed and Ben for PTSD. clapping.gif
