  1. Oooooo! Beautiful sunshine with a hard frost at -7c here in Henley this morning!
  2. Well, there are flakes falling from the sky here in Henley... very overcast now but I was wearing sun glasses earlier! Bitterly cold wind swirling the falkes around so they're not really settling. Temperature 2.5c. Always very excited to see the snow... Kinda glad it's gonna warm up a little tomorrow... out surveying trees all day again!
  3. Morning all... Very cold at -1c, gusty and overcast here in Henley on Thames so suggesting extra layers to kids in that biting breeze! Fingers crossed everyone receives what they want from dear old Ma Nature during this cold snap...! Iggy
  4. Persisting down in Henley on Thames... can the soggy river meadows take another downpour? We need a drying breeze to assist recovery of ground... Hey ho - soon be summer!
  5. Beautiful sunshine filled morning on the edge of the Chilterns! Certainly a welcome sight on a Monday morning!
  6. As it's fairly quiet on here today, I thought I'd share this with you all, given that it's related to the last floods. http://www.thisisdev...l#axzz2M0fOqVak During our chums weekend away, we happened to arrive at the re-opening of The Tarr Steps and have spotted ourselves amongst the audience. Awesome!
  7. Yikes! -12c windchill?!! Thanks BoD! Will pass on the info to the rest of the jolly campers although may find myself volunteering Aga cooking duties rather than mutt walking on the Baltic Moorland this weekend! Will report back to the team IF/WHEN we see any of the white stuff... gonna be an adventure, for sure! Thanks again, Iggy
  8. Thank you very much Cerneman! Exciting to hear there could be some snow flurries as we're staying in a large group of 22 and hoping to go hiking across the Moor with the mutts, but the log fire and Aga may win us over if the wind chill continues! It was biting yesterday! Will continue to read the forum and monitor the latest updates for our gang! Cheers!
  9. Morning SW/Central Team! Currently 0oC with very overcast skies and a slight breeze here in Henley today... ...but what should I expect Mother Nature to throw at us on Exmoor this weekend? I would appreciate any input from you learned souls! Thanks, Iggy
  10. That's a shame Mulls... in my naivety I was soaking it up in quantity when I stopped for 5 mins to watch the guys in their kayaks attempt to cross the raging weir! Oh well, thanks for the explanation! You learn something every day on the NW forum! Iggy
  11. Beautiful morning, here in Henley! Early river fog has now disappeared leaving a big, blue, cloudless sky (7oC) and finally, the towpath is walkable again, as river waters subside although still racing along at some pace! Plenty of people strolling along... enjoy a relaxing Sunday and treat yourself to a good healthy dose of Vitamin D!
  12. Bright, crisp morning on the edge of The Chilterns at 2oC with big blue skies! Beautiful. Watching models keenly as spending next weekend on Exmoor... will 22 of us become snowed in...?!! EDIT: Up to 5oC now with more cloud...
  13. Morning All! Yes, I too venture into the Model Discussion thread now and again and quite enjoy the exciting, and always positive reports, from Ryan, The Dutch Weatherman, amongst a few others... this is the friendlier thread, however! Anyway, back to the weather today! A promised half term 'treat' means a shopping trip into Reading with my daughter! We could have cancelled if yesterday's snowfall (about five hours!) had stayed put, but roads/pavements all clear and it's already +1oC. Time to wrap up, grab our pennies and brave the rest of the world with their demanding children! Hope you all have a good day, too! Iggy
  14. ...but I hope you're right, Coram! Following the forum closely for such a direct (hit) forecast! Exciting...!
  15. Dark grey skies, beating rain and gusty winds in Henley on Thames - 10oC at present. I was expecting more of yesterday's sunshine as I'm due to go out photographing and surveying trees! Not the best idea in high winds, perhaps...?
  16. Mostly sunshine and blue skies wafted around by hefty gusts of wind (opened the neighbours bin and deposited some recycling goods along the road!) - currently 7oC. Off to top up on Vitamin D and check river levels now, being a mere 250m from the flood plains... Happy Sunday from Henley on Thames!
  17. Bitterly cold breeze with a +2oC temperature reading (car) in Henley on Thames. I know that some of you already have a little falling snow before the warm westerly brings rain, so enjoy it ... I'm off to a Burns Supper tonight! Och aye! Bit chilly for the gents in kilts!!!
  18. Still being fairly new to this site (all of two weeks..!) I have been throughly entertained and superbly well informed, giving guidance and weather prospects to friends and family, based on what I have read from you humorous and dedicated souls and your witty posts. Keep up the good work chaps! I for one am hooked on the weather... !!!
  19. Some sizeable flakes falling here in Henley on Thames now (after a little rain earlier) but not currently settling! Had thought we were too far north as the front pivoted round, but excited to see these 'burst feather pillow' goodies tumbling from the skies! Whoo hoo!
  20. Over here, on the edge of The Chilterns, now -3oC and falling but think we're too far away from tomorrow's forecasted snow! Enjoy!
  21. Just below freezing here in Henley on Thames with light flakes falling and settling on cars, ground and snow!
  22. That was fab - thanks BBC 2 and Cliff Michelmore! I was just 2 years old at the time... Back to the here and now... any similar patterns?
  23. Totally enjoyed today's excitement (thanks guys for keeping up our enthusiasm! ) and ended up with a riverside walk and play in the untouched 10cm snow at dusk... beautiful. Returned to shovel a pathway in the compacted snow/ice where the children were sledging earlier in our close (they will bounce but the oldies will crack - ouch!) only to find another dandruff flurry recolouring the tarmac! -1oC and falling! Whoo hoo...!!!
  24. Yep, still falling in Henley on Thames. Daughter meaured almost 10cm on the picnic bench! Be safe and enjoy SNOWMAGEDDON on foot, sled, ski and snowboard! Oh, and don't forget the garden birds... crusts, apple cores and some fresh water will help...
