  1. HOPE YOU'RE ALL READY FOR THE COLD AND SNOWY STUFF AS FROM TUESDAY - AND MODELS NOW SHOWING CONTINUATION OF SAME FOR UP TO TWO WEEKS AND BEYOND - POTENTIAL FOR LOADSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS OF THE WHITE STUFF - ENJOY

Looks like you had it nailed before ANYONE else Andy !.... AGAIN

Slammer spent all his money on supplies following your recent forecast, however he has nothing left to hire a snow mobile , but being the happy soul you are , I'm sure you can let him have it a IOU basis .

Either that or we can all chip in and support slammer .

Grey miserable cold muck this morning , awful !

  2. DITTO

Horendous weather in Wales the past 24 hours or so - came back over storey arms late last night after a James Bond GIG with Liza in Brecon - was concerned a couple of days ago that we were gonna be facing a blizzard last night when this front moved in so I packed my trusty snow shovel just in case - always pays to be prepared I always say - any way gig went brilliantly - everyone dressed looking loike Bond and the women in there money penny cocktail dresses - Liza sang like a dream through her new BOSE pa system - on the way home I was sleeping - but kept one eye open as we went over the top of the beacons - must have been about 1.30am - the rain was gorrendous and winds were even worse than that - there was horrendous flooding too - enough to cause serious aqua planing problems - but we got home safe and sound and I just went straight off to bed - today

massive hail stones with a wintry mix of sleet and snow!

any way - spose you all want to know when the snow's coming back - keep an eye on the 6th FEB - reckon the major cold will return then - so get supplies in etc etc etc check heating etc etc etc - GFS is trending with something form North - North West - around that time - it looks tame right now - but could very well get more severe - and would you believe it - that's the time me and Liza have to go to Blackpool to record some original songs onto video - for Sky Channel 191 - a show called music express - hope we can get there safely - please please please! LOL

    Sounds like fun .

Glad it's going well for you and Liza.

EVERYBODY TAKE NOTE FOR ANDY HAS SPOKEN.

The leader of forecasting in the Wales forum said the cold will return !!

Will Andy be right yet again ?

Personally I wouldn't mind a very early spring with temps in the mid teens and plenty of currant bun .

  3. No more showers coming this way then? still cant get on radar? no matter how much snow you get its never enough lol.

Think thats it Gavla, thats it for our area anyway for the next week or so at least.

However i shall be up Pen Y Fan saturday morning ,just hope it wont be heavy rain all the way, and that there is still a snow shower on the peak perhaps.

Would guess there must be 18 inch to 2 foot up there now.

  4. Not sure why everyone seems to be so pessimistic about the remaining winter prospect, surely we have at least another 6 weeks plus in prospect, far too early to give in yet.

    Partly my fault.

Its not over by a long way, but going by a law of averages , the current forecast , the time of year, you could say that this evenings snowfall may just be the last meaningful event.

Hope im wrong !, but its what makes me enjoy each event fully like it may be the last, just a mindset thats all.

I said it jokingly at the end of Dec 2010 but it came true for my area anyway.

  5. Today has been brilliant! It was snowing lightly this morning at 5am, with a slight covering on cars. By 8am the snow had become heavy and by half 9 in the morning it was sticking. We've virtually had heavy snow all day here since. Fantastic. As a 21 year old it's some of the most consistently heavy snow I have seen. It's died off now but we'll hopefully have one or two more showers.

Oops accidentally posted it in the West Midlands thread! doh.gif

Todays weather has been brilliant i must agree, plus the forum has been active and its almost usual self, yet it just lacks that real star quality , .....you know, its just not the same without Andy music rampaging through this forum with his charts and analysis....Andy forecast this all on his own before anyone else with no assistance....we all enjoy the fruits of Andys forecast yet Andy himself isnt here or is restricted in some way.

    Full posting rights for Andy!!

We want full posting rights for Andy

................the snow has stopped ! cold shiver runs down spine as that may be it !

  6. Had to show this our happiness well turn to sadness as our snow melts away Unsettled with a spell of snow on Friday, turning to sleet and rain through the day. Less cold on Saturday but largely dry. Wet and very windy on Sunday.

Only a few weeks , often just a few days each winter the regional forum really bursts into life, but soon we will just access the model discussion thread now and again chasing deep FI until the first real warmth of the spring fades the memory of the winter.

Slight lump in my throat , but this evening may be the last time for some time that this forum is really alive.

Its been a bumpy road but we got there in the end, i guess this is almost goodbye for now

  7. really starting to break up now, another 30mins and we will be dry

The lamposts have more than delivered this winter.

Takes them many months, often years to rear there baby snow flakes into fully fledged flakes ready to leave the amber warmth of the high pressure sodium nest.

The street lamps in lowland and coastal areas are fine specimens, and will only release their seed when and only when, all external temperature/dewpoint etc ,conditions are met.

Street lamps higher up in the valleys and highland areas are much hardier robust but often brutal beings, they release their seed much quicker than the lowlanders ,and occasonally release with such ferocity that the local human inhabitants become imobile after being heavily coated in said seed.

I think Swansea now deserves one lampost to be painted gold just like in the olympics, and perhaps other towns and cities would nominate a specific lamp post for this grand accolade also.

A golden lampost will generate a feel good factor in the local community and may help avoid a triple dip recession, were this feel good factor to go viral.

A flap of a butterflys wing in Brazil can make the difference between full on Atlantic insurgence or Atlantic held at bay..., so just think amongst yourselves ....what could a golden lampost achieve??

  8. Ignore WUM

My point being , that this really could be the last snow this winter with what is forecast , so make the most of it .

Last snow - meaning last meaningful snow event that sticks , lies and builds up to a few inches and is still there the next day around the s Wales coastal areas .

Not trying to wind up for once .... ( boy who cried wolf and all that ... Jeeeesus )

Of course it can snow feb march and April , and I hope GP is right .

I think of it ,as this could be it till December or next year so enjoying it to the full .

However I now have to wait 11 months to show you what I meant . Lol

  9. Ah.... you have a crystal ball. What a wonderful bit of nonsensical input to a thread that was.

    JK

Not exactly a crystal ball crackpot dear petal.

I spent three winters learning from the master of weather ,the one , the only ....,Andy Music .

However talk of no snow for two years ,and having other ideas during my time at the Andy music weather school, ultimately led to failure .

It's why I'm a lowly lowlander and Andy is up there with the gods at 2500 cm in altitude .

Fine flakes here now , petering out .....?

  10. That streamer wafts around just a little , west to east and east to west , ...suspect there will be gaps and no snow periods shortly ,or a streamer of miniscule width whereby next door will get hammered whilst you remain dry .

The last snow of winter .... How long can it hang on ... Watching every last flake fall and savouring the moment , as it could be another 2 years until the next fall , maybe longer .

  11. No it will off stay off the south tip of Cornwall notice how the streamer is developing pinks and reds in the centre ,Memo to met office were"s our RED WARNING.

If they give us a red warning it will only jinx it .

Potentially major much heavier precipitation in a hour or so ... But as we are trying to predict it , it cannot now happen as it just dont work that way .

    Pretending I haven't seen it now .

    What intensification ?

  12. im still hoping to go out for a meal tonight with the mrs and watch the swans, does any one know whether the game is on or off? cannot find any information anywhere?

Although heavy , around the ground area there is not that much settled snow , lots of slush etc , should be on even if it continues like this , unless the temp dips and everything starts to freeze up , but that does not seem likely as I guess temp will stay same ... Any pros know different ?

  13. any danger of the Swansea vs Chelsea game being off as i've looked everywhere and no mention of snow risk.

I would suggest you ask Andy music for the forecast for the game.

He is sure to help you out when your in need and a little frightened and confused .

    Belting down still whoop whoop

Snow all over Swansea ( drove from Morriston to Sketty) , looks like more has settled particularly in the higher areas (+100m)

  14. Today's southern Welsh snow is a prime example of why you shouldn't necessarily trust the weather forecast, even 12 hours ahead in this kind of weather setup. The weather has a habit of springing surprises - even the high res NAE forecast didn't manage to come up with this lot. :)

Still coming down fast, temp is 0.6c

Derek's forecast yesterday around 230 pm was way out before midnight !

All the technology ! All the information ! man on the moon 44 years ago ! the wright brothers , graham alexander bell ( possibly disputed ) ,albert einstein , islamabard kingdom brunel ! even stephen hawkings human machine vocal interface .... No one , not one of you , can predict the exact actions of Mother Nature !

God it will be a sad day when everything can be predicted .

  15. Looking at the radar this seems to be being largely produced from the Exeter weather centre.

The Welsh Assembly have a target of equal snow distribution around the principality .

Although there will be anomalies , overall each region must have its relative quota of events / inches .

However this will be taxed accordingly .

More snow equals higher tax .

    Still HEAVY !

  16. i was just going to ask if this was a streamer, if this lasts till 8 then theres going to be a few more inches its getting heavier all time its great help.gif , what streamer is it?, any chance that ppn over ireland will make inroads as well or am i getting greedy?

The jackone streamer comes from the nnw I believe , so this one you could call a reverse jackone streamer as its opposite ish direction if flow , or perhaps the Swansea bay streamer ?

  17. Whoop whoop whoop heavy snow right on coast in Swansea and all way up to Morriston hospital .

Dropping someone off so parked up marvelling at this rare spectacle .

Where was that number for the snow mobile again ?

    ANDY ?

For once its Swansea and surrounding areas in the sweet spot lol .

Think almost everyone in Wales has had something to savour from this winter .

Shame its possibly the end of winter this weekend but its exceeded expectations unlike last winter .

  18. 2-3 inches generally on the (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockett Sketty border .

Schools have closed way too quickly this time .

    Friday was much worse .

School caretaker plus one of the teachers should be in all night gritting the pathways.

Lollipop lady can also muck in.

Few bags of grit , shovels , but of elbow grease and graft and bingo clear walkway .

The kids are more likely to get injured using sledges on the day off , than slipping on the school path .

    Rant over .

Yey !! Unexpected additional snowfall is always the best .

    Bonus snow .

    Happy now until next winter
