  1. All Trent Barton bus services have been suspended in Notts and Derby. Very surprised Leicester didn't get anything and Nottingham/Derby got it so bad. (Derby in particular) fine lines or what!
  2. Should have been a red this lots of people are going to be stuck on roads for the night!
  3. Yes we have a good covering now after the slight thaw/sleetiness from earlier in the evening. Keeping thinking it's raining because snowing that hard. This would have been chaos if happened during the day.
  4. Seems we are right on the dividing line between warm air to the SW and the cold towards the NE hence the inconsistent reports. For those who did get pure snow (ASL) they must have got a right pasting because some of those echoes are really bright. Must have caused quite a few problems imagine driving in that? It did pass through quite quick though. Game over now looking at the radar the heaviest has passed through. This cold spell has been the most memorable for me in recent years anyway. Must have been the first time I've walked in ankle deep snow for well over a decade.
  5. We've done very well out of this cold spell so can't complain too much but tonight has been a big non event so far
  6. Last nights event turned out to be better than expected. Chaos on the roads this morning. A good couple of inches on level ground in toal (near city). The airport had around 5 inches of level snow on the grass. Haven't seen snow that deep for 10-15 years. Is there a snowy breakdown predicted this weekend before the boring warm wet weather is back?
  7. It is still falling and settling one mile south of Nottingham City. I think it's only going to give a couple of centimeters though, can only dream of 14!
  8. Ok so quite moderate snow here now...it seems dryer stuff and starting to settle creating a very thin layer on pavements and parked cars. Radar has it smack over us.
  9. It's been a real non event here. Real fine/west stuff no settle. Tomorrow going to be a nightmare with ice. Are snow shields a myth or real? Because it's just fizzling out when it's hitting Nottingham.
  10. The forecast is for it to drift north so we need to stay confident. Going slow though isn't it? I'm 1 mile south of Nottingham city and nothing.
  11. The news channels are especially bad over the weekends as it's all looped pre-recorded due to light staffing. A small blob just appeared over France starting to head over the channel. That's going to have to move quick to be here by tomorrow morning as some were suggesting. BBC news 24 saying 4-8 centimeters for SE didn't mention us but the maps showed it a lot further to the east than earlier today. Suggesting anywhere west of Nottingham may be a non event. I don't know how up to date that forecast is but they usually update after midnight, even at weekends.
  12. BBC 24 have just ran maps out until Tuesday. After tomorrow evenings event (2-5 centimeters, although we'll be lucky to get 5 it looks pretty light stuff) fronts passes through the extreme south and to the north east (Newcastle northwards) giving snow.In the middle we seem to get stuck in the cold/dry air stream. In other words, no snow Monday or Tuesday at least for the Midlands
  13. I'm surprised they are only predicting 2-5 centimeters from the band on Sunday. Looks more significant than that, especially for the SE and the East Midlands we are right in the firing line.
  14. I was shocked at the 10cm count for Nottingham as well. More like 3-4 centimeters. Giving about 5 or 6 in total on untouched grass. It's still coming down quite a bit though at the moment. Can't complaint too much!
  15. Still snowing moderately in Nottingham sounds like Leicester has done well. What's the airport like? Surprised it's still open.
  16. Yes the chink of brightens(was to the south) has gone and Snow has picked up again here. Moderate to heavy and blowing about quite a bit. Quite impressed and the met office seem to have been spot on this time. Parked cars have all gone white.
  17. Moderate snow in Wilford (1 mile south of Nottingham City Centre) for the last hour or so but the skies are starting to brighten. Has dusted the pavements and rooftops slowly turning into 1-2 centimeter accumulations now.
  18. N Not being funny but it always snows ASL, not sure why people ASL still get excited about it.
  19. This always happens on the east/west thing. Generally it stops on Nottingham's doorstep and dumps all over Birmingham. Forget about any of that blob getting to us unless you are under it now, it's not going to go any further east. We need to look at those showers across the North Sea because that's where any snow we get will be coming from.
  20. It will come in between 1-2pm by the looks of it. But it gets blown to the West only to be replaced by snow showers from the East. Snow from the east is always better than the west for us I always feel so going to get hit by both tomorrow/tomorrow night and into Saturday. Quiet on Sunday.
  21. Was at East Midlands airport earlier it was coming down really quite heavy, plus there was wind not quite a white out but by UK standards I guess it could have been classed as a "blizzard" as I traveled into Nottingham though it was fading away. I think Leicester/Derby are getting quite a bit out of it. Was surprised when I found myself in it. Prove these forecasters don't really have much of a clue a lot of the time.
  22. Latest BBC news forecast has the snow lingering over us and eastern side of England on Saturday....so it is going to reach us at least but not sure how heavy it will be at that time. Very strong potential of at least 24 hours of continues snow, not often that happens.
  23. I can see the whole footy calender being wiped this weekend 80's style. BBC news 24 (I know, I know) has the snow reaching the east coast so I'm fairly confident over over 5 centimeters inland. What's the band going to do on Friday Night/Saturday then? Fizzle out, get stuck, or move back down south? Looks like Birmingham is going to get a right dumping it usually does well in these West (warm) vs East (cold) battle grounds...often though leaving us East Midlanders so close, yet so far from the action
