There was no snow in Cairo.
Record warmth in Sweden though.

One thing is clear, apart from one, maybe two posters, there is never going to be any objectivity on the subject because the perspective will always be obscured by the individual's ethnocentric agenda. People, it seems, have already made their minds up as to what is going to happen in 'x' amount of years time and their argument follows suit.
Even with BFTV's 'statistics' theres more than an undertone of AGW agenda, as with others. This is despite what is claimed. We know, we know. The ice caps are melting, impending fiery doom will ensue blah blah blah. That's the crux of what's being intimated here and let's not pretend otherwise?
I agree with Jethro, this is about the prospect of another LIA in FUTURE not looking back at recent constructed data plots suggesting unstoppable global warming. I feel for the time being the pro AGW crew will have the upper hand in proceedings because they have the luxury of banding about 30+ years of data suggesting warming! No-one else has a look in, sadly because it's dismissed as 'looney talk' or 'nonsense'. I'll say this, any thoughts on an impending LIA may be built on ifs, buts and supposition BUT so are the views which argue against it. Just because we've seen something happen in the past, it does not make it any more likely to perpetuate or deepen in intensity.
Well let me tell you something....when it was suggested that the earth was not flat it was scoffed at too...
How is it so difficult to just keep an open mind on the issue?
"Only am I objective" said no sensible person ever.
Do you know what 'ethnocentric' means?

And are you going to apologise for misrepresenting the BBC and spreading misinformation around the internet? You're worse than the BBC Gavin!
You need to read both the BBC statement and figures quoted along with my post more carefully. (
Not related but this why subtle propaganda can be so effective because subtle disinformation resonates as statements of fact to those who do not pay attention to detail)Although you are correct about the current CET for March you are also quoting something that does not refute anything I have posted and certainly does not make the BBC statement and figures any less inaccurate.
I will concede though that perhaps I did not make clear enough that "current CET" in my post refers to the current daily CET not monthly as relevant to the article quoted.

You means those winters none of which was as cold as 2009/2010 and none of which had a month as cold as December 2010?
