    Just come in from walking the dog and it was certainly fresh out there! Nice and bright though, and the temp. Has risen to a balmy 1! Hope your daughter's op goes ok Chilly Milly - it's always a tiring experience when your children have to go through something like that. Will be thinking of you both.

    Morning everyone. It's a chilly -1.6 here in East Sussex and the sky looks like the cover of the Eagles Hotel California album (sky lemon on the horizon shading to dark blue above, with the trees silhouetted in black) for those of us who are old enough to remember what an album cover looks like! Looks like it will be a nice early winter's day here. Looking at JPs charts, keeping fingers crossed for some interesting weather in December. Have a good day whatever you are up to.

    Morning. Looks like just a few hardy souls up at this unearthly hour on a Saturday! Hope you find the solution to your design problem Charltonkerry - it will probably come to you when you least expect it! I am up early to go with eldest son to Tunbridge Wells to collect the X box one that he ordered! It will be a quiet weekend as I am fully expecting that this will be the last I will see of him for a while - he will probably only leave his room for food! A cold start here.its currently 1.4 here and some grey clouds are scudding across the horizon. Think I will need gloves and scarf this morning! Have a good day everyone.

    Yes, heard that rumble here too Coast. Made both me and the dog jump! Have now got heavy hail/rain and it's getting darker by the minute. Squally wind too with leaves flying around. Glad I took the dog out earlier!

    Well, should have taken the dog out earlier as it is now raining here! It's warmed up in the last hour but still reading -1.2 , but it's that horrible icy rain.

    Morning all. Still a chilly -2.4 here. Decided to leave the dog walk for later, when it has warmed up a tad. It also seems to be very dark this morning, so a warming cup of tea seems a better idea at the present!

    Evening everyone! It's been a lovely cold and bright day here today, and since darkness has fallen the temperature is really falling away quickly. It's currently 1.1 here so it's going to be a chilly night. Not expecting to see the first flakes of snow, but it would be a lovely surprise if some of that precipitation that Ian F was talking about made its way this this corner of the south east. Hope everyone has a good evening looking out of the window in eager anticipation!

    Morning everyone. A chilly, clear start to the day here.warmer than yesterday with temps 1.3 when I took the dog for a walk. Looks like an interesting period of weather watching coming up. Have a Good Friday and Jules, hope the flu gets better soon!

    Good morning everyone. A lovely chilly, frosty start to the day here. Had to break out the scarf and gloves to walk the dog! First time this autumn. Temp was -1.2 here. Sky is that lovely clear pale blue/lemon colour as the sun comes up. Looks like it it hoping to be a lovely, crisp and bright autumnal day - hurrah! Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

    Morning all! Was a chilly - 0.5 when I fiirst got up at 6.30 to walk the dog. Was actually quite pleasant, although very wet from all the rain yesterday afternoon. Glad I got out early as we have had a few rumbles of thunder here too in the last 10 minutes. Temp has risen to 4.5 so still fairly cool. No rain as yet, but the sky towards the south is black! Looks like we are in for a storm! Time for a large mug of tea and a bacon buttie and sit back and watch!

    Morning all A chilly start to the day here. Was 1.6 when I got up at 6.30. Very calm at the moment,suspect it is the calm before the storm for our area Coast? Looks like it's going to be rather wet in our area of East Sussex over the next 24/48 hours. Oh well, back to the welllies and rain coats again! Even the dog is getting fed up with going out in it! On another note, have noticed the bird's starting to eat all the berries on the Rowan trees and Cotoneasta - do they know something we don't?

    Spoke too soon! Just seen the forcast on the beeb and whilst it is cold at the moment, temperatures are going to rise during the night as the cloud moves in. Oh well, it was cold and dry for a few hours at least! Keeping fingers crossed that at some point we will have some cold and clear autumn weather to look forward to.

    Evening everybody. The day cheered up from the wet start and was bright and sunny for a change. The temperature really started dropping away this afternoon and I have just let the dog out into the garden for a walkabout, and it is really chilly! Temp has fallen to 0.7 and still seems to be falling, so I am guessing we might have a frost overnight. This is the sort of autumn weather that I love. Cold, and crisp and clear! So much better than torrential rain and the howling gales that we have had in the last week.

    Morning everyone. Still raining in East Sussex! Temp is 6.4 and the heating has kicked in. We have a lot of standing water on our patio from the heavy rain overnight. Am beginning to wonder if this rain is ever going to stop! Have a good day whatever you are doing - back to school this week for youngest son - he is not happy!

    Good evening all. It's been a grey and wet day here in Sussex. Boys and I went to the pictures in Brighton to see Thor.We all really enjoyed it - great special effects. Drove through a lot of standing water on the way back and it's been raining on and off since. It's currently 11.4 here, but somehow feels colder. Lit candles to make the lounge feel a bit warmer! Glad my 2 are too old to want to be going out for fireworks this evening, eldest off to the pub, youngest catching up with homework and spending the evening in front of the t.v. with me. If you are going out, enjoy and wrap up warm!

    Good morning and a Happy Halloween everyone! I think the weather may put off all but the most hardy trick or treaters tonight - well, I hope so anyway as the rate my two sons are eating the sweets I brought to give out, there will be nothing left anyway! It is really miserable here this morning. Raining sometimes quite heavily and temp. is currently 12.8 . Grey and horrible really. Given up trying to sweep paths as no sooner that I get them clear, the heavy rain brings more bits down! Not looking forward to the wind and rain over the next few days. The river Uck flooded the fields near where I live on Monday, so with all this rain to come, fully expecting to see it happen again. Thank you John and Coast for keeping us up to date with the latest thoughts. It is really good to have your insight into this weather. Think it's an evening for a nice homemade curry and a lager or nice glass of red to wash it down. Have a good day whatever you are doing.

    Morning everyone! A beautiful crisp start to the day here. Really chilly overnight. Touch of frost here this morning. Neighbours had to scrape their cars . Temp is 3.5 at present. Hope this is the start of some crisp autumnal days to come (although having looked at the charts for the next few days I think that is wishful thinking on my part!) Keeping fingers crossed that John's lovely ramp charts come off! Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine whilst it lasts.

    Morning all. Lovely and bright here in East Sussex. Was a tad chilly when I first got up this morning. Temp was 5.5 Now risen to 8.4 and looks like being a fairly pleasant day. Hope everyone enjoys the calmer interlude before the next windy period. Thanks John for keeping an eye on this for us all.

    Things calming down here now. Sun is breaking through, but I gather from the Sussex police site that there are 125 trees down on the roads across Sussex. It was a really wild night and I must admit that I didn't get much sleep as the house was rattling and whistling. Thankfully, I can't see too much damage in the garden - it just looks a real mess with bits from the trees everywhere and a lot of standing water on the patio. Temp is currently 13 and pressure 989 mb. Thoughts go out to all in our region who have sustained damage.

    Was expecting to sleep a little longer, but woke up an hour ago by the sound of the rain and wind. Currently have 3 cats trying to get into bed with me! The sound of the wind is horrible and we have had a few really strong gusts here. Can't see much outside as our local council in their infinite wisdom switch the lights off during the night. Not very helpful in this sort of situation. Am getting concerned about just how bad this is going to get. Hope everyone is staying safe.

    Raining heavily now here and wind picking up. Pressure is falling - now 991.5. Think I will head off to bed and try and get a few hours sleep - no doubt will be up at some point in the night. BBCSouth East has just said the strongest winds will be from 5 am onwards. Isn't that later than was first predicted?

    It's gone very quite here in East Sussex. Raining gently and slightly breezy. Wondering if this is the calm before the storm ?Temp has gone down to 12.4 and my weather station is saying the pressure is 995.4. Sons spending the evening seeing which of the two of them can come up with the corniest weather related jokes - it's going to be a long night!

    Hi all, Been lurking for a while, but this weather has made me brave it and send my first post! Can I say think you to all the dedicated members who take the time to keep us all well informed - John Pike deserves a medal for all his hard work I think! Here in Uckfield, East Sussex it has been really squally all day and the rain has set in in the last 15 minutes. Have tied all I can down in the garden, now just trying to convince my 2 sons that yes, wind can be really destructive here in our corner of the U K! They think I am totally nuts being this obsessive about the weather. Off to finish off cooking the roast dinner - think a drink is in order to steady the nerves for what is to come tonight. Stay safe!
