BBC has heavy snow arriving in Leeds between 3am and 5am with showers after. Met Office has it arriving later between 6 and 10am, with a brief hour of light snow in between.

Anyone else watching bbc1 national forecast in a few minutes?

Only by certain posters on here. The Met Off certainly didn't predict a lot of snow, just cold and the possibility of snow for a few days.Amounts were always less than 10 cms in total.
To be fair they did say 10 to 20 cms in some places. It will feel very cold as you say -16c with windchill is pretty cold. The model thread sadly does have way too much signal to noise in it.

Because the warning has human input and the app is computer generated aka useless!
True, yet the Met Office app displays symbols as per their own warnings.

What's the point of the BBC issuing the Met Office amber warning and then having its weather apps display the symbol for light snow and sunshine as its graphic on the weather app on all those places under an amber warning?

I didn't expect anything today to be honest. I'm cautiously optimistic for tomorrow morning. Here's hoping it moves a little slower than predicted.

GFS shifted northwards slightly so Sheffield on the edge of things tomorrow. Probably start with light snow which turn to showery as the day goes on. Not expecting a great amount from it say 1cm to 2cm.
The snow is containing a lot of pollution my car windscreen was filthy when I got to the car. Probably explains why the stuff was melting even with temps below zero.
Just had some icing sugar snow which brought temps down to -1.2C
Interesting, my windscreen was really dirty too.

If it comes as predicted I suspect it's going to cause a lot of problems given the time it's due to start. Leeds traffic is poor at the best of times, add 3" of snow to rush hour and it will be a struggle. Buses will be late and overcrowded, if they run at all. Trains will be jammed. Glad I'm not going to work tomorrow!

Ok HIRLAM now has it barreling through our region dropping 4cm an hour almost everywhere as it goes, carriers on through to Wales only dying out there.
Well if the timings run true then that could be as much as 16 cms in Leeds.

from what I gather more of west and south yorks will be included in this warning
If the gfs charts are correct it could be a nightmare commute on the roads with the heaviest snow forecast about 4am - 8am. Thankfully I'm off with cold!

Why, hoping to book the day off work and do not want to waste the day - thanks
Skeptical for Leeds, I'm sure other places will get a pasting from these North Sea showers. Just a hunch.
-
I remain a bit skeptical, especially about Friday. Hope I'm wrong....

There is a met office warning for amber in my area. Yet the BBC weather has me down for light snow flurries Monday Tuesday Wednesday...
Imo the BBC are to unreliable they've lost the plot .
They'd be more accurate hanging seaweed out of the window
I've only got light snow (with sunshine!) between 6am and 9am on Tuesday. Aside from that there isn't any before Friday. Makes a bit of a mockery of a warning. Maybe it will be different on the days in question I know it's hard to forecast, it's just annoying when they don't marry up! MetO is much better.

Currently a balmy 6c here in Cookridge, Leeds. Lovely once you're moving about

One more...
Maybe some upgrades nearer the time?

but everyone was saying we'd not just do well but brilliant considering these synoptics on offer. wanted to ramp last night. good job i didnt. feel so deflated this morning. pros say one thing, gfs another, experts on here another n then apps say nothing will even happen.
It's notoriously difficult to forecast snow unless like Friday it's more of a certainty. Those north sea showers are going to be a case of radar watching I suspect.
What will be will be.
