  1. Good graphs sw. I only started using the weather station at the end of last year. I thought the rain gauge was inaccurate but maybe not. Next weeks weather doesn't look good for flooded areas unfortunately
  2. January 2014 High 10.3C 5/01/13 Low -0.1C 7/01/13 Rain 16.5mm Unbelievable temperature figures if accurate. Low rain figure as well. Seems to match up with Northern Lights regarding lack of rain in the Moray area.
  3. Im in the North Sea until Thursday. The weather has been bad for most of this trip. Constant gales and plenty of rain. Hope the snow stays off until after Thursday ( the helicopters don't fly in snow/ low temps). After that I hope the snow starts.
  4. December 2013: Max: 15.1 C 13th Dec Min: -1.4 C 7th Dec rain 127.8 mm highest wind gust 24m/h NB weather station almost blown away on 5th Dec so don't have figures for that day but Kinloss had 83mph gusts. dont think the wind speed is going to be very accurate (too sheltered) and not too sure about rainfall as it didn't seem a wet month.
  5. Happy new year everyone. Fine start here - clear skies and 3.5C.
  6. Merry Christmas from Piper Bravo. Due home on friday afternoon so hoping that the weather is ok. Still 60 mile gusts here so confined to the accommodation.
  7. I live somewhere in the middle on the Moray Firth coast ( about 35 miles east of Inverness, 70 miles NW of Aberdeen). Having lived in Aberdeen for many years I don't think it was that snowy. Being on the coast snow didn't lie that often (unless there was a cold easterly). The main thing I didnt like, in Aberdeen, was the haar/fog coming in off the North Sea. Therefore I would prefer Inverness. I am going to check the statistics for Lossiemouth/ Kinloss as I think they are better due to a microclimate along the Moray coast.
  8. Stuck here in the North Sea until 27th. Looking at the comments in the severe weather thread dont know if i should be worried or not. Hope the roof on my hoose is still there when I get back. Sunny morning here and not that windy. Nice sunrise just before 9.
  9. Where about in the sky? Clear sky in the north sea but canna see anything .
  10. Same pish here 10 C and dreich. Weather station back online after being knocked oot on Thursday. searched for Scotlands mildest December day which was 18.3 C in the west Highlands 2nd Dec 1948. Dont think we will reach that but might reach 14 or 15 .
  11. Woke at 6 and the house was shaking. Checked the new weather station display wind 37 and temp 5.6. Checked again at 8 - nothing on display. Massive fail. Weather station still intact but not reading anything. Any ideas?
  12. Raining and temp drop from 10.4 to 6.2 c in one hour
  13. I agree. Put up a maplin weather station a couple of days ago. seems to be working ok and everything matching my nearest weather station (Kinloss) except the wind. I'm reading 18mph while Kinloss is saying 28mph with 41mph gusts
  14. Judith is a weather presenter on Reporting Scotland
  15. BBC Scotland weather live in Burghead last night. Hopeing for Judith but some bloke called Chris. Said there wasn't a microclimate in this area just the Fohne effect.
  16. I was at home for the first 19 days of June. Hardly any rain on coast but friends tell me that they got caught in downpours a few miles inland whilst Burghead remained dry.
  17. Collegues of mine cycling from Lands End to John O Groats. Decided to meet up on 3rd June at Blair Atholl ( not fit enough for whole thing!!) On to Aviemore then Tain and up through Sutherland through to Tongue then on to John OG. Hoping for some good weather in NW Highlands. Looks like temps in low 20s.
  18. Down in here in Windsor for holiday weekend. 20 C and sunny today. Living up to my scottish stereotype by getting sunburnt
  19. Piper Bravo - I like the snow but want it to stop so the choppers are delayed Should be aren't delayed
  20. Stuck out in North Sea until Monday (100 miles north east of aberdeen). Cloudy here with a few flakes of snow. Biting easterly wind.
  21. Nae happy here. 4.5 C and dry . Question - Can anybody tell me why it is dry here but the rainfall radar shows rain/snow right over the whole moray firth?
  22. Very disappointing. I think it is because I am sheltered from south easterly winds. The temps during the day have been between 2 and 5C. We have had a dusting of snow which has melted/evaporated during the day. Most annoying is that inland areas of Aberdeenshire/ Moray have had lots of snow.
