alan.duckers Obviously April has come and gone, with no sign of the Shannon radar data being re-added to the Met Office composite. I've emailed them today to see what's going on, so will report back when I get a reply. No idea why it's taking them as long as it is..

davehsug We've relatively recently been using their API to pull down the data rather than the older method and it's obviously popular as it does seem to strain and slow right down at peak times. I'll see if we may be able to use the older method to grab a small selection of data types a bit quicker for the key charts on the viewer, if the api continues to grind.

We had another ticket overnight with the issue. But it was only there for less than 24 hours and like I say a very low percentage of people would have been affected.

Update from @Jo Farrow Risk of thunderstorms overnight with lightning and hail WWW.NETWEATHER.TV Northern France has warnings for thunderstorms for the start of May. With favourable ingredients of warm moist air, high CAPE and a warm front, southern Britain could see storms, hail and lightning.

Excellent. There was some debug left in some code which was pushed live for something totally unrelated, but it affected the login sessions of some accounts (<2%) and wouldn't have allowed them to log in. So, sorry about that - it was quite a random one to pin down.

The PIT We did find something happening with the session on your account, which may well have caused the issue of the login failing without an error message, so hopefully that's now resolved. The password thing, I think is unrelated - so please just reset again and try a new password if that comes up again. Let me know how you get on!

I can't recreate your issue right now on any local browser or on our browser test system, and as yet haven't seen any other reports of similar problems, so it's a tough one to diagnose. I'll ask @Karl to look at your account specifically in the morning just to make sure there's nothing going on there.

We've made no changes to the login system at all for some time. So if it's logging you out straight after, it sounds like something is blocking the login cookie from being set, or is deleting it shortly after. Is there definitely nothing running on your devices that may do that? Which browser are you using there?

Sounds a lot like you're perhaps putting the wrong details in. Please double check both username and password.

Are you doing anything differently in your browser or on your device, in terms of running ad / content blockers or anything that may block or remove cookies?

Have you set a new password and ensured you're typing it in correctly etc?

Thunderspotter Everything should be sorted again now. We've had a couple of brief problems, one around lunchtime and one just now. It should be all good from here on in

It should be back up again now, it was fine for a couple of hours but went again just then.

This is where the UKV thinks the lightning will be - it's a new chart so not prettied up colour wise yet. It'll be available on the viewer soon.

If you refresh the page it should be fine now, we had a bit of a database issue

ANYWEATHER It looks like the 15 hour slot isn't available currently on the API, the rest is in though. We run the data as soon as it's on there.

Richard27 Thanks Richard, we'll definitely continue to monitor and make regular improvements and updates to it across the coming months. Mapantz We identified a possible bug which may have triggered alerts when strikes were on a similar latitude even if they were some way away. That's been resolved now.

Richard27 We've actually been tuning the hail side this afternoon, so it's tightened up a fair bit in the last hour or so - bear in mind that at this time of year it's also going to be picking up soft hail/graupel etc. In terms of doppler style data etc, unfortunately although the radar network is doppler enabled, there is no USA type doppler data available from the Met Office. That may change in the future, but in fairness it's something we've been asking about for years and there don't seem to be any plans to make it available commercially. Mapantz Lol, last I heard you weren't getting notifications at all, it's hard to keep up! I'll log it as a potential bug and see what we can find.
