  10. night jim-bob back on topic. the pressure seems to be holding steady now. so i cant see the cat 3 status changing between now and landfall
  11. and i thought NOAA had good pics. the 3d graphics are really good.
  12. i have to say mond, the loops are really good viewing. the NOAA certainly have got a good site.
  13. the high above rita (to the north of it) will slow it down and in effect be pushing against it. this will mean once it makes landfall its progress will slow considerably. sadly this means it will drop a lot of rain continually in the low lying areas, flooding may be the worst problem as opposed to the wind strength.
  14. Landfall now expected around 0700 tomorrow morning (our time)
  15. and if anyone is interested, here's something from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4270640.stm
  16. AmericanIceman, whats the latest TV news saying about Rita's route?
  17. yeah but he can blow hot and cold sometimes! :o :o :o
  18. and this pic is great (IMO) oops, sorry Adi, courtesy of NOAA
  19. listening to some of the US news channels earlier, the guy in N. O. said that just 3 inches of rain over 6 hours will be enough to flood the low lying areas again. so even if landfall is more west of N.O than the rain will still cause havoc.
  20. well complicated it is. in the civil service (well at least my department) we have to fill a form out (i know) stating who the author/owner is of the piece of work been photocopied.
  21. So Adi, is it breach of copyright to cut and paste, for example, news stories from BBC site?? the rules seem to be a bit vague. also if you add a link to a post, to another image; is that breaking the copyright? as you said earlier the use of pictures in some posts are purely done as an innocent addition to the posters subject matter, when you go to a site to get a picture why does it not have the copyright symbol on it? i always thought that without the symbol it was allowable to use.
  22. Channel four news now suggesting the path may be more towards New Orleans. any confirmation of that in the charts/model/sat pics??
  23. Roger, do you have any dimensions for rita? or comparisons i.e Katrina was the size of England.
  24. Current Nearest Observations: cloudy 14°C S (7 mph) Relative Humidity (%): 83, Pressure (mB): 1021, Rising, Visibility: Good
  25. well thats very interesting research Roger, i can see this is a subject close to your heart. i notice your neck of the woods is getting colder and there is even snow in some parts of canada. is that usual for this time of year.
