Jesus, I just looked at models. Summer is 100% done. Nothing like being punched while you’re down. GFS conjures up one of the cold august bank holiday weekends on record.

I can't quite believe it!  It was supposed to be a fine, warm end to August, but now looks like rain, rain, more rain and so chilly!!!  My husband says I am being pessimistic because i asked him to put away the sun parasol!

  2. I think a lot of people are going to find it very hard-going this coming autumn/winter, having to put up with the depleted light levels, coupled with the fact that we just haven't had a chance to enjoy the benefits of sunshine this year, especially topping up the Vitamin D.

  3. What a day!  It really is pitiful and has descended into the realms of disbelief that this 'summer' has been so terribly bad.  It feels as if we have been robbed of summer and only have autumn, winter and the interminable dark evenings and mornings to look forward to (and no. I don't like Christmas either, so it isn't a bright spot in the coming months!).

The time is 15:57 and at long, long last; the summer solstice has just occurred! 🥳

Yes folks, the pendulum has finally reached the end of its stroke!

Speaking as a reverse S.A.D. sufferer this is truly as bad as it can get! Around five weeks ago, my part of the world entered the world of the lingering twilight; I’m not gonna lie, those five weeks have been a long, long hard and torturous haul for me.

Some people will say that we’re now on a slippery slope; but I see it as a break, a rest, a chance to enjoy the freewheel after an extremely long, and hard and arduous climb to the solstice.

I’m looking forward to the increasing darkness, like welcoming an old friend who’s been away. 🙂

I’m fully aware that summer 2023 has still got a fair few nasty tricks up its sleeve, but this corner/milestone now being turned/reached is something that needs celebrating!

In other words, I’m going to be celebrating the fact that we’re now on our way out of summer, instead of on the way in! 🥳

I’m also looking forward to the shortening of the days, gathering mists, and ripening fruits, as we now head towards autumn. 😊

Yes folks, cheer up; as there is darkness at the end of the tunnel! 😁👍🏻

🎵The summer sun is fading as the year grows old. 🎶 And darker days are drawing near. 🎶The winter winds will be much colder…🎵

    Could contain:

Could  you please enlighten us as to why you like darkness?  I truly don't understand.

    Winter was spring 😂

Whilst I'm not hardcore enough to want it dark at 4pm, the return of proper nights cant come soon enough. Who wants broad daylight at 4 am?

Me!  I absolutely love daylight at 4 am.  I hate, hate, hate those mornings when it doesn't even start to get light until nearly 7.30 am.

  6. How absolutely beautiful are these long days!  I love that it starts to get light around 3.35 am and doesn't really get dark until after 10 pm.  I crave light, singing birds, beautiful trees and plants.  It's a shame we can't just 'stick' like this.  I don't even think I would hate winter so much if it weren't for the interminable darkness.
