Ouch, spot the MCS, looks like we'll have to defend for our lives. Tamara, our goalkeeper, will obviously be having a busy night and is charged with the task of sending the pesky fella back across the French side of the Channel. Should our defences be breached, then it's up to Jan and I to defend the Kent/London border, to save the city from going under.
All up for grabs then, for the eagerly awaited re-match!
Does anybody want to join our team, were a bit outnumbered?
Tom.
I'll be in Calais or Boulogne, on the side of Storm Freaks, using every last drop of power to knock the thing across the 22 mile wide centre line. Sorry to disappoint! ;-)

That's all part of the fun of looking forward to the potential - you can't beat the weather rollercoaster - whether it be for storms or snow
Yep. And it always, always turns into a rollercoaster doesn't it?! It never seems to be straightforward. But yes, I agree, that IS part of the fun. (Even though it doesn't always feel like it, when the huge French storms head for Belgium, or the snow stays as rain or sleet!)

Has turned into a perfect summer's day here too. Clear blue sky now, pleasant breeze, humidity lower than recently, and weather station saying 26.3° at the moment. (It's normally pretty accurate, but looking at the official high temps currently - and the feel out there - I reckon that could be slightly higher than the reality for some reason.)
Liking the look of the Met Office's warnings. Lots of 'may's and 'chance's, yes, but in terms of storms (in fact, MOST weather), can we expect much more than that this far in advance?
Anyway, as I say, perfect afternoon here. So no complaints from me!

Liking this 'Cumulonimbic' description!!
Not sure if it's a genuine adjective or not! I've used it for years, but I've a feeling I made it up!
-
Morning everyone. Weatherwise, a less active night last night than the preceding one!
Currently 22.7°. Barely a breath of wind, but humidity seems lower today. Sun shining cheerfully down, but beginning to look slightly cumulonimbic to my SW. (That line of deeper cloud showing on the latest satellite pictures as running from the south coast up towards London possibly?)

The end of my first day on here. (Been viewing for years, but never really thought about joining. Last night's events changed all that!) Am sure I'll get to know you all well over the coming weeks and months. Night all.

Very innocuous looking skies in this part of Kent now. And still 21° at half nine in the evening - which isn't bad, considering just a few months ago loads of us were wondering if winter would ever end!

Bye Bye storms! I think the energy was used up from the early hours into this morning, not surprising given the intensity of those strikes
I must admit I was looking at the skies today thinking "How can there be anything electrical today? Surely last night stripped the atmosphere of every last drop of energy!"
-
Stormy looking sky to my east, brighter to the west. 22.4°, but still not a drop of rain since the overnight storms. (Despite what the radar and Rain Alarm are saying.)
Thought I just heard a rumble of thunder, heart jumped ten beats, and then saw the bloke opposite taking his wheelie bin in...
-
Clouding over markedly here too. Still pretty warm (24.6°) out there though. And feels as humid as anything. Looking at the sky to the SW, if I were in somewhere like Italy, France or Spain, I'd say "Batten down the hatches. A storm is a-brewin'." But as I'm in Kent, I'd be VERY nervous about making such a statement!

Total non event againStorms are harder to get here in the summerThan it is to get a Thames streamer in the winterBeen a real long time that I can remember a good night storm hereAlthough saying that they were about last nightMy location was just unlucky
This spell has been a total key down for me not a storm pass over me for the whole spell. All I've seen is distant lightning ;(
I must admit my heart goes out to all in the SE who didn't get a storm last night, as they weren't half bad. And I know how awful it is to miss out. (We usually do, around here, these days.) Still there's plenty of summer left yet. Let's hope we are in with another shot very soon.

Welcome Anvils, enjoy the ride.
Do you own a ruler?
Regards,
Tom.
Thanks.
No ruler. But I do own a wall, for banging my head against when the weather doesn't do what I want it to. Hence it gets plenty of use!

Certainly not getting my hopes up as regards the next few hours. The French activity seems to be heading towards Benelux AGAIN! Quelle surprise...

Weird twirly cloud taken last week
It sort of looks like the shape of the British Isles to me.

Thanks for the welcomes.
Anaprop has led to many heart skips over the years!

25.9° here. Muggy and bright. Met office radar suggests we've been under a deluge on and off for hours. Can assure we have not!
(Oh, and hello all from this new boy!)

Hello all. ANOTHER newbie here. This current spell of weather has certainly brought us out of the woodwork!
Was just too far west to be right underneath the first Kent storm last night. But that gave wonderful views of the incredible lightning. The second storm was right overhead. And boy did the windows rattle a few times.
Hoping for more activity later today and through this evening/night. But would that be greedy?!

Thanks. For my location, his first scenario is the one I want to see. Worryingly, though, he called it the "more likely" of the two. That's gone and jinxed it!
