  1. days arent feeling that hot (like july) but temps are defenitly creeping up and nights are getting hot and humid again.

for friday (yesterday) the humidity in my room is as high as in july 60%.

according to bbc and met its supposedbly raining here now, cloudy but the usual dry weather.

currently 24.7 in my room, 60% humidity

    outside currently 19

    cloudy and dry

  2. Its been dry here in leics last week or so since I posted.  No rain but also not much sun temperatures mild.

I noticed tho my room is suddenly getting warmer right now and it made me check on forecasts which seem to indicate warmer weather again so will see what happens tommorow.

the real heatwave type weather looks to be predicted around 21-24 august and the jetstream forcecast shows similiar to how was in july with it arching above the uk.

  3. check rainfall accumulation 3 hour graph wow.

Basically nearly all of the uk has had rain in last 3 hours except for a oval shape around leicester.  So it seems my area is under a hole in a cloud covering the country.

sorry man I read derbyshire peak and thought derby.

  4. Very heavy rain here now, 10,7mm so far today and the radar looks promising for some good totals by the end of the day.

derby not too far from leics yet you seem to have polar opoosite weather to me consistently, bizarre.

yeah the radar shows what I been frustrated with cloud moving up same part of the country every day and seems to be just a bit too west, hitting birmingham, scraping nottingham, covering derby leics in the clear.

that cloud started moving north now so wont reach me but looks frustratingly close.

  5. yesterday was decent no sun at all in afternoon so no temp surge in afternoon.

sadly today the sun is back but met is predicting 80% chance of rain after 4pm. so will see.  This morning temps were almost 2C higher than yesterday tho indicating warmer air has moved in.

I got the trial upgrade now as well so access to extra netweather data.

The radar seems to be confirming what I see out my window, constant cloud (and rain) on west side of country especially wales.   Looks closish to leicester but missing, seems I am most days just a bit too far east of the path of these clouds.

But I can see now its about to get darker, as the cloud is moving east not north this time.

  6. I subscribed now to the lite service I like that rain radar, but I think I want the service above it the extra lite so asked for the 7 day trial to see if I like it, thanks for the pointer.

The radar now shows leics right at the tip of a new lot of rain, I see wales has the best of it.  Just outside now the sun went in and started raining lightly.  Cloud came from behind me so I didnt see ti coming.

  7. temps started 2.5C lower than yesterday, even tho its sunny (yesterday was cloudy this time) its almost 3C lower.  Room temp hit the 22s and is now 24.0.  Outside feels fresh and cool currently but is sunny and although predicted rain looks unlikely currently.  No wind or breeze. The light clouds that do exist are moving very slowly as well.  Official max temps for my area yesterday were 25C which surprised me. currently I measuring outside temp as 19C, yesterday was 22.1 this time.  We did have rain during night whilst I slept.

  8. The clip is  the first signs of the convection & a shower just starting,

the next clip is the first Thunderstorm we had, next doors kids getting heir toys in as it starts to Thunder & rain.

    i'l upload more tomorrow.

Shower & Convection Over Walsall West Midlands,2nd August 2013

    First Thunderstorm Over Walsall,West Midlands,2nd August 2013

wow, clouds round here never get that dark.

those clouds I seen in distance I guess were over west midlands.

Regarding today its much cooler air, its sunny but my room is at 23.1C 2 degrees lower than yesterday when cloudy.

To the west I am seeing what looks odd, like dark poofs of smoke moving fast and low, I guess very died out decayed storm clouds, they small so I describe them as poofs of smoke.  Above them to the west also is larger higher white clouds which are barely moving, above me is the usual blue sky.

  9. yesterday before I went bed it did suddenly feel cooler, not sure why.  I had shut my room door so the air from the front door which I had open all day stopped and room temp shot up to 29.9C but felt cool at same time, sun at that point was mostly under cloud cover so its entirely possible that was the reason but I think instead we finally got that cold front that was promised earlier in the day.  When I did let air flow from front door again temps were going down fast but I shut my window and door and went to bed.

Now with window and door open again and woken up at 3.30am so much less time than yesterday with letting night air in my room temps are already down to 24C and standing outside feels way cooler than same time yesterday.

So my conclusion is on fri 2 august, there was a predicted cold front and cloud, but my area instead was limited to clouds in the morning and early evening, most afternoon was blue sky with the warm air still present from thursday.  I think the lower predictions were based on that cold front and cloud.  When the actual temps get published later today I be very surprised if they below 27.

  10. I posted those clear sky pics i think an hour or so ago.

now suddenly a cloud appeared overhead, from my window it looks almost dominating and solid but its not quite covering the sky as the sun is coming in and out of view and I can see to the south many gaps in the cloud.

temp inside peaked at 29C dropping to 28.7C when cloud appeared, outside temp dropped by 1C down to 27.5C from 28.5C

  11. basically now I see clouds in distance.

From my window the clouds are moving from left to right, I checked using my phone's compass the bearing, so the clouds are going from south to north, which makes sense as thats the jetstream direction.

So frustrating, I can see clouds in distance, but I am too far east of them, and they moving north not east.  Leicester out of reach as usual, the clouds we had here were gone by midday.

My parents on the east coast in norfolk however say its heavy rain there.  As I was going to say with todays hot temps the jetstream is more west than predicted and the east still has hot spanish air but my parents weather doesnt back that up.  Although my mother said dispite the rain its very hot there.

But yeah that cloud in the distance has been there almost all day moving north I think was one short spell I seen it broken up, its thick heavy cloud.  But overhead here its clear blue sky.  So whoever is under that cloud had nice cool weather all day.

I dont think its quite as hot as yesterday but its defenitly a hot day.  my indoor temp is hotter than yesterday, but is more of a breeze (slight) coming through the window.

  12. I think if Tony had said Leicestershire (as opposed to Leicester) he could be correct, although I would say Nottinghamshire may have done slightly better. I witnessed some fantastic storms on the night of the 22nd/23rd near Melton Mowbray and I know Hinckley and surrounding areas got some decent storms this past Monday.

its possible some other parts of leicestershire did get rain, I am in the city area.  Where I was it did get cloudy and cooler but didnt rain sadly.  So seems I got close but no cigar.

There has been times where I seen rain radars show rain where I am but its sunny.  Left scratching head when I See them.
