We hit 25.3c at 12:19 in Sheffield making it our warmest day of the year (and the first time 25.0c has been exceeded here this year.)
-
Sheffield has had maximum of 22.1 today and it hasn't gone down much so it looks like a humid evening ahead in my neck of the woods.
-
A Quite remarkable heatwave for the time of year-in fact 2011 seemed permanently mild as we had a bit of a heatwave around April (which lead to a good forecast for Royal Wedding Day.) although Summer was not that we great through. We also had one of the mildest Christmases on record that year (a stark contrast to 2010 when the last White Christmas happened and yes i do count snow lying on the ground on Xmas Day as a White Christmas.)

28.0C has just been breached in Writtle Essex
UK #hotspot 28.0C at Writtle in Essex just now. Chance we may reach 29C next 2 or 3 hrs. Tomasz S

16.7 for me but with it being the month that decides whether it ends up a decent Summer or yet another rubbish one, that figure could go up or down for me.
-
And with today's rain Sheffield has already gone above the driest year on record which was 521.2mm back in 1975-Can you think of an earlier point in the year where we've beaten that total The PIT cos i can't.
-
What a horrid Bank Holiday Weekend this is turning into for Sheffield-and we must have well and truly gone over the 100mm mark for May-We could end up beating February's total of 106.4mm and end up in second place for the year so far in which we have seen 4 out of 5 months with above average rainfall (with only March below average.)
-
It would take at least another 2 dry winters (i.e 2010-2011 & 2011-2012) before we can even consider another drought.
-
7.4°C. for my guess

Nowhere near as cold as Last Year but whether it will be as Warm as 2011 (The last Time Easter was this late aka April 24th) remains to be seen.

From BBC Weather's twitter account
Met Office provisional stats show that this has been the UK's wettest winter on record in the national series going back to 1910
There we have it folks.
ETA: At the figures
This winter (so far) has seen 486.8mm of rain falling, beating the previous record set in 1995. #UKwettestwinter

Or Summer 2016 at this rate!
-
We have just recorded a 59mph wind gust here in Sheffield.
ETA:Scrap that we have just hit a 76mph gust.
-
Yep looks like the record for the Wettest Winter for England and Wales is going to be broken now-and were nearly halfway through February!
-
41.5mm to this morning here 69% of average. Raining steadily here now so more to add. Only one dry day this year so far.
Cricky! Let's hope we don't beat the Sheffield February record from 1977 which was a staggering 202.5mm
-
Sixth highest here and still notching slowly up. More active rainfall over the irish see which may reach us or not.
And Sheffield has also had it's wettest day of the year today (the previous being New Years Day with 12.6mm)
-
Wettest Januaries on record for England and Wales176.8 1948169.0 1988162.6 1995162. 2014 up to 28th
And since the announcement this morning added on another 2 mm (164mm up to Tuesday) it looks the whole country could be in line for the wettest January on Record (with 3 days still to be added.)
-
Sunny Sheffield up to 92.3mm should be a hundred by the end of the day. We've got 14 months ahead of us. So no records here.
I've only got 89.6 mm on the website but i think it might have been down for 12 hours yesterday but yes our wettest January since 2008 could be on the cards.
ETA:We've got thunder, lightening and hail going on as i type
