it obviously has not gone south.
-
Darren betts on radio5 live said the centre of low is off north cornwall coast..
-
My lights are flickering and yes, the gusts are stronger and earlier
my lights flickered a few times too..
-
whast the predicted mb for this system before it goes onto north sea..?
-
Pressure now at 985.5, and must be at leat 100 miles from the center. I'd guess that the low is probably around 982mb or lower now?
its a deep low already..
-
The winds have picked up here in Brighton with steady rain, gusts fairly strong, I measure them by the sounds coming down the chimney and the leaves on the trees are fairly noisy! Nothing stronger than we had mid afternoon - not yet
yes stronger winds last 20mins or so
-
its going to surprise all the 'is that all there is' merchants..
the party hasn't even started yet.

this low is a slow burner..
-
that is so far out and its already 985mb >> there will be panic on the streets of penzance....Dawlish, Weymouth and lizard point.
-
Its actually quite blowy here on the south coast...
its getting breezy for sure..might knock your purple giraffe over.
-
so the centre 'might' be or is off the scilly isles (just had a look thru last 140 posts) and its about 985 ish deepening rapidly..
I think its going to be grim if its that deep that far out in the west..maybe not KILLER MEGASTORM...but lots of chaos is on the cards.

wind is s/sw occ veering sse..

met office to scared to cough up all the info..they always get blamed for everything.

Thats going over the top...
sorry you had your head in your underpants the last couple of days..you missed the hysterical meeja headlines.
-
so heavy rain for a few hours..then increasing wind with potential for carnage and chaos and death or not,
but no one can really be sure in case the system changes course at last minute.
-
hope the windows stay intact.
-
starting raining..the first part of the KILLER MEGASTORM is here.

whats happening to those bush fires..dropped off the news recent days..
did that bit of rain do the job or has there been more rain since..they were talking of converging fires to make a megafire
-
the KILLER MEGASTORM might not happen then...or at least not so mega.
-
don't leave a scotch egg on the windowsill outside..it might roll away in tomorrow nights breeze.

it might lurch back up on a northern trajectory, its a volatile fast moving mix of high atl airmass and warm azores mid atlantic air so anything could still happen..

cobra ?..hamster more like.

The issue I have...is that despite modern technology we are still no clearer on the track. In the US they seem to be able to firm up on hurricanes quite well...but here it always seems to go wrong...be it snow or even rain.
So essentially...going back to 87...we are in a no stronger position apart from the fact the media can hype. And yes I'd love to see a good storm...I don't want to see people hurt...but as an enthusiast this is a good as we get to a hurricane style system.
hurricanes cover a vast area and move more slowly though don't they ?..they'd be easier to track/predict.

is it starting to be downgraded ??..good news and bad depending on how likely you think your windows might be broken by flying debris..
bill giles needs to suddenly invent some 'Viagra for failing megastorms' to give it some added oomph,
