  1. noticed it too. Small blob of ice by iceland . sea temps there low enough for something to happen. Last year there seemed a fleeting moment of an ice bridge I recall. If global cooling gains traction over the next few years I am sure it will happen. By the way there is a name for a tongue of ice that some times sticks out quite far from the eastern Greenland sea ice area because of a cold current I,m sure someone on here knows about it and Ihave'nt just dream;t it.
  2. The weather will be privatised and you will have to pay for your own weather beamed directly to your roof top. Grey drizzle is the cheapest package. A free day of Sun for new customers.
  3. Look at the steep ice gain. http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/ Also the temperatures are looking good from what I can see on this coloured map, pinks turning purple and violet over northern Russia and the Arctic To me we seem in better shape than this time last year.
  4. Any good volcanic activity could make its way into the criteria list. No major single events to speak of recently but increased activity globally. Did Icelandic eruption slightly cool region in 2010? I shall keep an eye on levels and density of Noctilucent clouds over the Arctic in summer 2014 and see if there is a correlation between that and the rate of summer ice loss. 2013 saw record levels. By the way I don't understand all of the scientific phases I read here but I like to I think I have good weather instincts.
  5. Thanks guys. Sea ice growth is still looking good. I usually go to arctic sea ice news and analysis but technical difficulties have suspended tne graph since 25 Oct.
  6. All good stuff but there may another way and it may already have started. A Grand Solar Minimum may be coming our way. Current Solar cycle 24 is the weakest in decades and about to decline. Many Solar scientists think we may be on the verge of a Dalton or Maunder minimum that would herald decades of very cold northern European winters as last seen in Europes Little Ice Age 1645- 1715 which was still being felt in the 1800's. Roll on frost fairs on the frozen Thames!.
  7. Anyone got latest sea ice graph for quick comparison as the one I Look at was suspended Oct 25. Images look good though and it seems the Kara Sea will freeze up a lot quicker this year.
  8. Currenr spike in solar activity may disrupt some sensitive data gathering equipment.
  9. Good snow gains in mid western areas of USA. Cold temps consolidating over Hudson and Newfoundland areas.
  10. Thanks for the Reply BFTV. Good what you said about the PAO. Still wonder how much light energy noctilucent clouds can reflect back into space especially as suns rays strike Arctic skies at a more oblique angle. I am convinced the level of Solar activity is what drives all these other factors. We are a the peak of a very weak cycle and may be entering a grand minima. the evidence for low Solar activity and the link to global cooling with bitter winters seems to grow stronger each year. I think 2012 was a blip and that the Arctic has alreafy turned the corner and will be in much better shape five years from now.
  11. Hi guys, new member here. Looking good for snow this year when looking at all the different forces coming into play that will be good to discuss in future posts. For now, does anyone think that record amounts of Noctilucent clouds in 2013 helped keep the Arctic cooler thus preserving more sea ice and giving us good start to the winter?
