Yeah, Moderate snowfall on-and-off here. This is a great event for me.. The school i work in has been shut too!
-
wow, ive been getting this very fine moderate blowy snow for hours - visibility is poor, its just like a spray effect on everything, the side wall of my house has been carpeted with snow We have about 5" now in total.. I work in a school and i will be listening to the radio intently tomorrow. lovin it!
-
Just went for another observation and the situation is getting better for me, but deteriorating for drivers! Snow depths climbing above 2" now with heavy snowfall affecting this region. I can only imagine what it's like across central southern counties right now! It will be chaos tomorrow morning, just chaos. The snow has picked up considerably here. Hopefully other people on here from Birmingham can confirm these reports. Things have developed quickly in the last 30-45mins.
Yes i Can confirm this  At the moment its just this powdery, moderate fine snow that has blanketed everything. As the traffic has reduced, the roads are not coping now. Interesting stuff.

A very interesting report on BBC news channel at the moment, news readers are grilling a guy from the met office - they asked him when the cold and snow is going to end, he replied 'oh.. weve got another couple of weeks of this yet, 2 weeks but we cant look any further so i dont know'! lol
BBC forecast at half 4 looked OK, more snow for Birmingham on thursday though?? precipitation is pepping up nicely here too

snowing heavily again in Sutton Coldfield....after moderate snowfall...looks like we could be in for quite alot round these parts
Yeah, its kinda on and off at the moment, but it looks good for us into this evening i think! Im also in Sutton Coldfield, Im further towards Four Oaks - There was more snow in Erdington though!
-
My Girlfriend has just got outta work in Sandwell, NW Birmingham and she reports snow there. Nothing here in Sutton Coldfield YET
EDIT, Just started to snow here!
-
Sleet here at the moment, very light though
-
Looking at the MO Radar, the band of precip is really organising itself into quite an organised front, its not as scattered as it was.
-
Thicker cloud rolling in now, temperature just dipped below freezing, dew point heading for -2c. Let's hope that doesn't change too much. Some heavy stuff heading straight for me though. Would expect some warnings to be put out for this part of the world soon I would have thought.
Yes, Just below Zero here too, dew point negative and snow reported in places thought as unfavourable for snow today... Surely we should see the white stuff here, and be warned about it may i add?!

hello my midland buddies:)
Ive been watching these cams over the last hour, That img is brilliant! that stretch of the M4 @ Allt Yr Yn cuts right thru Newport, Its Junction 26 - 8m above sea level!
-
Yeah, reports all over facebook from my friends and family in Cardiff and Newport about the snow, seems to be heavy in and around the newport/Monmouthshire areas according the the trafficcams. I wonder if its snowing in the Central Southern England areas? Provided we get a piece of the snow-pie up here, Let it snow!
-
Excellent news. Cardiff isn't exactly high up and is on the coast. And for it to be falling at the warmest part of the day bodes very well for us.
I know, unexpected eh? I told them yesterday it'll rain today for 'em because they were complaining about the Ice! they live just a mile from the sea wall in eastern cardiff, Its literally sea-level.
-
Have a gander at the traffic cams for SE wales,
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southeast/travel/trafficcams/camera167.shtml
Clearly snow falling on the higher routes (In the valleys) But snow falling in west cardiff also.
-
Snow in Cardiff apparently now.
Should get here for late evening ish I would have though. No idea when though.
Anybody noticed that beefy shower that has randomly developed over the SW Midlands? Gaining strength and moving North at a steady rate. Thought it might be anaprop but doesn't seem like it. Those with the NW radar should be able to see it.
Yeah, Mom n Dad live in Cardiff, He's just called me to tell me that its snowing there. I'm hoping to see some snow outta this, provided it doesn't fizzle out by the time it gets here!
-
West Midlands has by far been the worst for snow this time. We are going to miss this lot by not far aswell. Any breakdown looks far too marginal aswell.
Yeah, I agree with this Granted, it has been very cold here but we've only seen about 20 minutes of snowfall in total since the beginning of this cold spell! Even my family in Cardiff had a few CM's last night. I was hoping this band of precipitation would track further north as it headed into southern england earlier but it looks like we will miss out again.
-
Yeah, that was a complete non-event, Its stopped. I put more Icing-Sugar on my mince pies earlier!
-
Its snowing here at the moment, its not very intense and its quite on-and-off. No way am I gonna see anymore than a centimetre!
-

-

woooo!
thats what im getting at the moment, Im in Digbeth which is right in the centre.. totally settling here and very heavy...
-
A covering in Birmingham City Centre as it stands, the snowfall is moderate and has been for about 2 hours, the ground was so wet earlier it took ages to settle!
-
radar is back!!!! lol
Good! some heavier bursts moving in according to NW, its really snowing now...
-
Its a wintry mix here, sleet but then snow in the heavier bursts!
-
Im in Hockley in Central Birmingham, it has been snowing here for about 45 minutes but it does seem quite sleety in nature... a few heavier bursts of snow at times though!
-
All West Midlands buses are to go back to the depot.
No more services.
Was on my way to my friends too, just bloody typical.
OMG is this true? Ive got work at 10:30, its still open (wouldnt close if a hurricane hit!) but i cant get my car out of our basement car park because the ramp hasnt been gritted! i was going to take the bus!
this is a good enuff excuse for me
