Thanks to both posters took time to explain the sting Jet. 1 question do these stay very close to the center of the storm and have a small area of effect?
With it being out to sea, if one does form would the damage be much less?

amazing isn't it?.....the site are doing their best to help out with the threads and give posting guidance, yet there are still some folk who disregard said guidance, either that or a few folk in here have had a few too many sherberts tonight....As Jo rightly mentioned, it's not a competition, it's a discussion on the CURRENT severe weather outbreak, and NOT who's got the biggest gusts or whatever....Believe me, the one measurement a weather station can't record is the speed of wind blowing out of some folks backsides in here tonight!
So please, swallow a chill pill, report your weather conditions, summaries, constructive debate etc and leave the point scoring nonsense in the kindergarden...cheers
Could you start with explaining what this developing string Jet may cause to a already nasty storm, and which area is may affect?
thanks!

Yes in a fashion as the low exits it will. Bring further problems from midnight through to 6 am ish stronger and more damaging windsR u serous !!!!!!!
Yes I am, seen we have had a gust of 56mph but was expecting this to be far worse, I have two of them evergreen (fir?) trees
right within 10 feet of my balcony, they at least 30-40 ft tall. I suspect it will pick up a lot yet later here, so far though not so bad.

Not disputing you, but that's amazing. It's been blowing a near gale here for several hours. A proper winter storm. Even though I'm east of you, I'm only a mile from the coast. Location seems to be everything.
There as been rain and wind, lost a few garden pots and a gnome, but nothing major as of yet. London seems to get away with it everytime!

Ok that is nut's, hope people make preperations to get home if their normal way is not working or blocked. I wouldn't go even if I had tickets.
I am about a mile from the Stadium, it really is calm here at the moment.
No rain, light wind / odd gusts. Come 10pm though I expect that to be different, hope they called this one correct.
