Bus, just looking at your punt for the next few months below each of your posts. How does a SSW wind bring cooler weather? i think thats what your saying is it?. I thought it was the east and northly type wids that brought us the cold white stuff?

Afternoon folks, Very mild here today with drizzle. pressure dropped into the high 940's during the last 12 hours and in the early hour's for around 20 minutes it really rattled the window's...then it just faded away as quick as it came?! snow on local hill's though. I can confirm a wheelie bin casualty but to be honest im struggling to be flippant as iv'e just stuck my head in a paper for a wee while. damn sorry for so many people. 1000 homes water damaged and some will take 10 months or so before the family's can get in. Sometimes you see a car with water up the top of the wheel's etc but there are car's completely submerged in some area's! On a lighter note I keep my fingers crossed for winter coming now! I dont want much, just a few day's where i cant get out my drive that's all! I need it to feel like winter because just now it's like a different season all together, i have seed's sprouting everywhere.....poppies for instance are triggered by a below freezing temp of a winter period then warmer weather of spring really kick's them off....well they are well on the way now! Anyhoo, a wee ramble from the newbie. Hope everyone is well

Activity to say the least Bus, Plenty of tight isobars there. some places are getting it real tight. I need to study those charts etc to get more of a grasp on what things mean.. still really wild here with horizontal rain. dropped 2mb in the last 2 hour's so nothing major there.. I just looked at the isobar's and charts and it to me they dont tie up with up north?? Anyway guy's im sorry for gate crashing on here but thanks for having me and i really do mean that. Its been a pleasure as usual being on here. Time to listen to the rest of the storm from my bed.....night folk's, and many thanks again for tolerating me

Quick update , storm is surprisingly strong, good strong steady wind. As im typing the wind is rattling the windows quite badly and the rain is hammering the glass. Its really starting to get a punch now..considering model's etc put it south of here its really kicking up a fuss.... ALARMS just started going off on weather station for wind, its really going now.!

Hey all, Starting up my way big time, getting stronger with -5 windchill and currently gusting 30mph and rising by the look of it. It seemed to come out the blue, one minute calm next minute strong wind and heavy rain.. pressure is at 966mb. Thanks for finding that article BUS, Im able to glean a lot of information from it.

Afternoon all and best wishes, Thats pretty hardcore down the road, great pic's but my heart really go's out to those people They are seeing more and more extreme weather.. I think insurance companies have now started putting clauses in for houses being built at ground level, apparently a lot of new builds wont get insurance, they have to have higher foundations and a minimum step up..heard this second hand but this extreme weather is playing havoc.... Global warming / climate change, who knows....its just real sad for those people. Think positive and hope they are getting the help they deserve.. Not much happening here, 2 celsius all day and crystal clear. rivers in big spate though!..looks like we are missing it up here to an extent anyway?? On another note here is hoping for some more traditional scottish winter soon!! A question for anyone with time to answer, what are the opinion's on exacta weather forecasting?? used to be free but think they charge now, they use the sun in their long range stuff i think ?
