    FROM THE MET OFFICE UK Outlook for Sunday 9 Mar 2014 to Tuesday 18 Mar 2014:The general trend for next week is for the most unsettled weather towards the northwest of the UK, and the best of the drier and brighter conditions towards the southeast. On Sunday, milder, wetter and windier weather in the northwest will gradually ease and weaken as it spreads southwards, followed by colder and clearer conditions for a time, before turning more unsettled again in the northwest on Monday. The rest of next week will see continued periods of wetter and windier weather in northwest Scotland, though elsewhere a good deal of dry weather with some sunshine by day and the risk of frost and fog in some central and southern areas by night.     I will only need three more frosts this month to beat the whole of winter. Was 0.8c now 11.5 c in London.

    We got off lightly in London this winter and that includes the gales that caused damage, we are thankfully not under water

    There seems to be a warm settled spell heading our way Jax, we are going from a long autumn, straight into spring with a brief hiccup when it snows in April.

    I am going to risk it and plant all my vegetables this month rather than wait until the end of April. There is no repeat of last March on the cards, that's for sure.

    We might as well give up on snow, it's just too late now, roll on spring. My hazelnut tree is already budding .
