  1. maybe it will take more of a turn south as the hours go by . certainly one to watch .....
  2. hi chris . im no expert but i would say the front edge as this is where the two temperatures meet  cold front hitting the warmer air . but still potential behind it too
  3. i think the squall line is going to be approaching dorset hampshire and isle of white in next hour . one huge gust here and a very load bang outside of the house
  4. car alarms . wind roaring . 70mph gust expected according to bbc as squal moves through but very quick and intense . over pretty quick too
  5. torro talking about a possible ( T4 ) tornado tomorrow
  6. it is actually becoming quite scary in southampton . weather sounding like something very nasty is brewing
  7. seems that there is some nasty weather along south coast tonight . shipping forecast 1725 Gale warnings - Issued: 1002 Tue 17 Nov Southwesterly gale force 8 expected soon, increasing severe gale force 9 later Shipping Forecast - Issued: 1725 Tue 17 Nov WindSouthwesterly 6 to gale 8 increasing 7 to severe gale 9, perhaps storm 10 later. Sea StateRough or very rough. WeatherRain or squally showers. VisibilityModerate or good.
  8. ok folks its looking good now st marys south west of lands end sustained speeds of 48mph gusting 69mph . Potential is here for 96mph this will travel east along the south coast at approx 70mph . ok 0800 major gusts will be occuring in cornwall 0900 devon somerset 1000 dorset hampshire 1100 sussex surrey 1100 onwards it will travel further east at a distance of 70mph ( Not Wind Speeds ) >>>>>> including london . forecasted windspeeds of 85 mph very likely based on possible 96mph exposed coasts .
  9. no increase in wind speed in plymouth between 5am 6am mean speed 40mph . Gusting 60mph
  10. interesting . no centre ? filling rapidly ? dickson looks like it could be going either way here but if it is going to cause any problems in that area i would say between 0930 and 1000
  11. i think the place where you were can expect the worst in the next three hours the coasts of cornwall should be experiencing something dramatic soon . hopefully someone can update soon . not sure if it is filling slightly now ???? reports of 57 mph in isles of scilly now . but the worst is still an hour away from there i would say so major strengthening ???
  12. listening to radio 5 live up all night . st catherines point isle of wight has reported a 85 mph gust and that is BEFORE the second more dangerous system comes in over the next 4 - 5 hours . Cornwall still the place to look over the next hour or two for whats coming . 9 ( METRE ) WAVES reported off the south west coast . That is about 27 foot waves . I wouldnt be at all surprised to see widespread damage and recorded gusts in excess of 100mph this morning .
  13. yes i am up monitoring the sat pictures etc . 0300 hrs sat just released by met office . worst weather is around 120 miles west of lands end . system travelling east at around 35 - 50 miles an hour . still expect cornwall to be the teller around 0530 - 0630 . any bouy updates or deepening ? system seem direct east now rather than south east which threatens the whole of the south coast with whatever this beast is going to throw at us ?
  14. i dont know if this is my imagination but i feel that the low is beginning to deepen even further . this is clearly visible if you look at the last two hour met office sattelite runs . the area for concern is currently around 150 miles west of lands end and travelling east at around 50 miles an hour on average . around 0530 we will have a good idea of what cornwall and devon are experiencing . i feel it is going to be a lot worse than expected . around 0930 to 1000 london will be affected by this . rush hour chaos in a well populated inland area dangerous and very very high wind speeds . we are experiencing a lull . sadly it does look like it is deepening but there is also a slight sign it is moving slightly south south east . i feel northern france may get a severe battering from this too . can anyone confirm deepening and list any bouys around the centre of this low ?
  15. I would not class this as hype at all . Let us see the results before you class this as hype . I would class myself as level headed . I have been a member of this site for six years . Inland wind speeds of 75mph are what make this system so very very different . Even TORRO have issued warnings of Tornadoes with the south coast being most at risk accompanied by 15mm Hail . Lets wait to see what the next 24 hours bring . It is better to be forewarned of these events which are incredibly dangerous than to assume they are " hyped up " . It is easy enough to criticise the met office when they dont warn . When they do you complain it is hype . So who is level headed here the people being cautious or those laughing off the warnings as hype? Daytime inland wind gusts of 75mph are likely to kill several people before tomorrow evening .
  16. BBC WEATHER 1300 . Described as a " once in a two or three year event " SEVERE WEATHER WARNING . Tonight gusts will reach 60 - 65mph along the south coast of england . The dangerous situation is likely tomorrow as gusts along the coast reach 80mph during the daytime .( Inland stated as 75mph ) . Areas were mentioned such as reading and london . Warnings of travel disruption power outages and trees coming down . It is quite worrying that the most dangerous weather will hit tomorrow during the day Local news has just given possibility of 82 Mph

  18. looking forward to a very stormy night on the south coast of hampshire . i would suspect that st catherines point on the isle of wight will record the strongest gusts in our area . not a leaf moving here at this time . complete calm
