Harry's House Yes, my barometer was somewhere between 'Rain' and 'Stormy' the whole weekend, despite the sunny weather outside!

Another sunny Spring day. Not as warm as yesterday - 14.1C the max - but still feeling very pleasant in the sun.
A completely different weekend weather-wise to what we were expecting.

Good day for drying the washing...

alexisj9 Max today was 10.7C but like many others have commented, it felt much colder than that. Once you got cold today, it was difficult to get warm again.
-
As others have noted, colder than expected with a noticeable frost. Overnight low of -1.9C. And I don’t think we can be considered a frost hollow, here on the coast…

Sun rising with a clear blue sky, but temperature is at 5C. Quite a contrast to the -5 this time yesterday…

Temperature has now risen to 4.5C and is still rising. Quite a contrast to this time yesterday evening.

I was surprised to see an overnight low of -6.3C - that's unusual on the coast. In fact, the coldest overnight for us since Jan 2009.

Surprised by just how cold and raw it feels today, with virtually no wind.
1.7C at the moment, the lowest for 24 hours.

Somehow we managed to get 2cm settled right by the coast here yesterday, had a line of heavy showers for over an hour straight which managed to get it past the tipping point to settle.
Nothing in Brighton beyond wet pavements and roads yesterday. Quite a surprise arriving home further West on the train. Still looking nice this morning.

Light snow/sleet in Kemptown, Brighton. Just a few hundred metres back from the seafront.

Coldest since February here now, -2.4c
Wonder how low it would have reached had the grim murk from the west not been approaching.
-3.8C at the moment - our coldest since 8 February.

Just had a torrential shower, flash of lightning and a couple of loud rumbles! Road is a river!
To which I could also add hail, and then sunshine and blue skies!
Temperature dropping fast this evening - down to 5.3C now.

Anyone central southern south coast are at the centre of the low at the moment so as you know, that means winds are calm for the moment.
955.7mb and almost calm with steady rain.
Ready for things to change though!

I was listening to LBC when the 1987 storm woke me up and even during the 4am news bulletin acknowledged "reports coming in of damage and power cuts across the South of England" was about all they could say. Even at that late stage there was a worrying sense of "nobody knows what's going on out there". Then the power went off.
Can relate to that. The whole thing was a complete surprise to us, and I can still remember it gradually dawning on us that something major had happened as it started to get light. Our only source of information was the BBC local radio station - on a battery radio, as the power had gone off! Quite a contrast to today...

Different conditions today compared to yesterday. Then we had frequent heavy showers with clear gaps between.
For much of the night we have had continuous heavy rain, still continuing at the moment. 19mm so far since midnight.- 1

19.4C the high for us today with warm sunshine, blue sky and calm conditions. Like a summer's day on the South Downs - what an amazing contrast with what's happening in other parts of the UK today.
