Eh? No this is out to +204. I also mentioned that the ecm is showing nothing record breaking, the uppers are pretty impressive but the surface temperatures are lower in the same time frame. Monday 25th was forecast to be the peak of the warmth but it is looking less mild for that day now

Who’s website are you using to view GFS 6? Netweathers is now +99

Not sure about you but personally I’m not seeing any particularly record breaking temps at all. Just very green colours indicating 10-11C nothing exceptional at all. This is from the gfs 6z today showing 25th of feb. ECM showing a bit more in the way of milder weather with temperatures nudging into the low teens so it’s not looking like a record breaker and there are no southerlies they are more south westerlies to westerlies now before turning to easterlies as the high moves north into the North Sea and then to the west of the uk

Your keen with the GFS 6Z again to say it’s only out to +80?

    Right so,

basically, gfs has now switched at the 18z and is showing high pressure establishing itself in Northern Europe into eastern Scandinavia over the Baltic which is good! Winds begin to filter in from northern Russia over Eastern Europe and then the winds start to come in from a south easterly direction for us which is directly from where the at cold air will be sitting, however, this would only give us clear  and cold weather if it is still cold if it actually reaches us so nothing particularly exciting but i will be watching this high closely to see if it moves a bit west because if it does then we could have our last shot at cold and maybe go out with a bang to the end of this awful winter so far! Just waiting to see what ecm shows and then we’ll see. (Obviously this can be ignored probably as this is over a week away still so absolutely no reason why this should not change completely to westerlies!)

How are you seeing this gfs 18z before anyone else can I ask?

  4. Think the charts will change somewhat. i do think we could see some pretty potent PM blasts giving heavy hail showers and hill snow.

So long as theres no widespread disruptive snow ill be happy. Got a hell of a lot of travelling to do around the country and cannot afford to not do it!

I suppose its nearly 3 weeks away and the charts can change vastly in that time.

  5. Yes in March we did, but at the end of the month, the high retrogressed Westwards allowing the jetstream down from the North.

We then saw the wettest April on record, and also the wettest summer on record!

We also got told the hosepipe bans would last until Autumn I believe. They actually got lifted before summer even started! And the river Nene saw its levels go from the lowest on record to nearly bursting its banks all within a month.

Thats jogged my memory I remember now! Im very concerned about snowfall W/C 24th this year and im hoping were snow free!!

  6. Looks like a solid week of settled weather, perhaps longer in the south, then after that we look to be seeing a changed to a more mixed and average setup with heights to the south west occasionally ridging towards the UK between more unsettled periods of weather.

The high looks to be well positioned with a light south easterly flow for the south and south westerly for the north, looks like there could be plenty of sunny days to come as we never really pick up a flow which can bring plenty of cloud in off the sea.

    Captain,

You recon after the warm weather we could pick up any snowy weather or we looking at a return to average conditions with wet and windy weather?

  7. Hey!

I am wondering what you guys recon for snow this month recon we will see any at all to lower levels? (Yorkshire area)

Im thinking more towards end of month W/C 24th. I know its far out but you guys who understand models more than me can you give me your views?

    Thanks
