  1. Welcome to the Forum Jonathan. :)

You seem to have the knack of being able to get in the Media headlines.

In reply to your link Kar although the temps before christmas were not correct we did indeed have some very windy storms which produced lots of rain on or near 1st Jan. So Jonathan called that one quite well. He also said in that excerpt you posted that temps would be above normal at 12*C or so well i can say down here his temp predictions were spot on. I am still wearing tshirts under my coat.

The forcasters cannot be right all the time and the example you posted does have some of the events included in it which we have experienced.

It's the tabloids who blow things out of proportion not the forcasters. It sells papers and our weather has always been a much talked about topic.

  2. Well today has the feel of spring to it the sun is out the temp in the shade is 12*C and i have just seen a fly. There is a breeze which is taking the edge off the temp but all in all better day than yesterday. :unknw:

If this weather keeps on like this we will either see a big boost to the bird population or a big drop. I saw a magpie getting nesting material yesterday so if other birds are nesting and hatch chicks in mid Feb then if the weather does get cold the chick stand a good chance of dying which would be a shame. :o

This country gets more messed up each year. :D

  3. I apologise for using this thread to ask this question but it seemed the nearest appropriate one for my question to put on. Has anywhere in europe had any snow this winter so far? (excluding the usual places that normaly have snow whatever the weather at this time of year elsewhere)

  4. It's always this time of year this happens and people then get all hyped up and when the first signs of cold appear some people go into overdrive.

I hope the cold does come but being quite a bit older than some on here i am able to say that even in some of our coldest winters we did not get tons of snow and there were also warmer times so please try not to translate cold into snow for months on end because that just will not happen.

    but enjoy it whatever comes.

  5. Haven't read all the posts here but in Kent offshore of reculver/Herne Bay we have a very big wind farm which is lovely to look at when the sun sets behind it and in Maidstone much to the nimby's rage we have a new incinerator which will burn our household waste and produce enough electricity to supply most of Maidstone. Although the burnt waste will no doubt provide another thing to rant about it is still i think a good idea.

I also feel that these new ways of obtaining energy are dissed because they do not give the government or the utilites suppliers enough profit. The utilities will have to spend money and that is something they do not want to do.

  6. Well i am hoping for more snow this year than last year. I got hardly any here.

I like the cold but not too cold for too long. But this year has been unusual so i don't see any reason why we should not have lots of snow. We seem to be suffering far more extreams this year.

  7. been cloudy all day with one break in the cloud around 4pm snowed lightly at 3pm then nothing till 4.45 when it tipped it down with snow pellets twas so hard all the grass and car roofs went white even the road for a time. Now cloudy 1ºC could i have more to come?

    mmmmmmm.
