Hi@all
Just fired up the computer, and a quick peek at the charts gave me wide eyes!
In my post yesterday I mentioned a volatile situation developing over France, BeNeLux and nortern Germany. I would like to change that to highly explosive. The so called "loaded gun" is about to be fired by the current passage of a very pronounced short wave trough over the BeNeLux which in turn initiates the formation of a surface low that can quickly erode the CAP. The rapid formation of supercells and clustering into a massive MCS will be the result, with us maybe witnessing a rare phenomenon here in Europe, the "cold ring shape", visible on IR Satpic as a round area of very cold cloudtop surrounding the warmer dome shaped and pulsating updraft area. Massive hail expected, making the current action there harmless in comparison.
Destabilisation further westwards is very probable, the SE UK can definitely expect some action later on. (see Estofex &co) Widespread conclusiveness..
What still gives me thought is that due to the public holiday in these places many peeps will be travelling or out in the open and get caught unawares
Ralph
So I can still hope for something?

Gone quite dark out to the SE of me over the channel, something's been developing for the last hour or so
-
I just need something to develop a bit further west in N france and it will hopefully sweep through Brighton

They're beginning to take shape now, and will continue to develop all through the afternoon. I can't guarantee you'll get something, but generally, it'll be within these lines..
Thank you, there does seem to be a gap in line with me though
-
Looking good on the coast, Brighton and east.
From when? none of them seem to be heading for me at the mo
-
Looking good for the SE later, if i didn't have work I would drive down there (yes, I am mental)
Really? You're that sure?
-
I don't really understand where they're expecting it to come from though?MetOffice now showing a MCS engulfing London and the South East tonight. Click Here

Wait did you say Brighton?? The activity will spread right down here?I have to admit. I think things east of Derby in line from Hull right down to Brighton is where the storm activity will be for the rest of the day. I suspect all areas west could have quite a nice and dry afternoon.

And the "high level 1" for us...but not quite like a level 3:(Was thinking the same. Lots of action taking place towards the Midlands. And 'oh wow' at the Level 3 issued by Estofex.

Definitely brightening up hereLooks like the cloud that was coming towards the south is breaking up quite nicely actually, at least away from more southeastern counties. May be good sign for those north of London up towards the Wash and probably other places too
-
That's exactly the same as your one from the other day with your location slap bang in the centre

Looking at the latest output it looks increasingly clear that my region will miss most if not all of the thundery activity.
Looking pretty good for areas immediately N and NW of London then running NE. Perhaps E Kent tonight, otherwise a disappointing one for me I think hey ho!
I don't think you can rule out anything yet?
-
That explains the cloud where I am then
-
I've only had some light rain and a rumble of thunder from a very active storm that died out over the channel since all this storm talk began on friday night
-
Cloudy here, not threatening but feeling much more humid
-
It certainly looks good today, dare I say it but it looks better than Saturday did to my eyes. The sun is out and the atmosphere is ripe for thunderstorms, hence storms already breaking out. It shouldn't be thundery rain either today, should be proper thunderstorms. Why do I have to be at work!!!!
That is unfortunate...but I've got a day off today, work can wait

Anyway did anyone notice that on the estofex warning it mentioned in the discussion that the only reason that a LEVEL 2 (!!!) wasn't issued was because of the limited chance of hail? They said it's a "High level 1"

Does anyone know about the chances for tonight that people have been talking about for the last few days?
-
So what happened to the chances of thunderstorms tonight that people were raving about?
-
Me too, I woke up at 5 and thought it was going to be my luck day..Noooo the big cells area passing just to mt west why is it is impossible for my location to get a good storm
-
I remember at about midnight when some one said that this storm was slow moving and that we'd get it for a while, not nothing
