Same here - there's a 'slight whitening' on the ground now
-
30 mins now of steady but not heavy snow, if it keeps going like this all day I reckon we could have 1-2 cms (!). Oh - it's easing off, make that 0.25 - 0.5 cms.
-
Had a covering this morning, (about 1-2 cms). Soon petered out as I came down towards Huddersfield, looks like it was about 800 ft or above where it stuck enough to give that 'all over white' look.

well its still a continual blizzard up on the hills of Oldham & Saddleworth... several
inches now since 07:00, but is quite deceptive due to the drifting. Some pics just
taken within the past few hours below
Identical to what we've got here, just on the Yorkshire side of the Pennines about 10 miles east of you. Some nice drifting as well, and very little melt as yet (I guess the ground is that much colder up here - I do love living at a decent altitude sometimes !).

As this could well be the last for this winter, thought I'd stick a few pics of this morning on, (they're not very dramatic, but probably won't see any more for a while). Overnight a few more centimetres, so out of the sun probably about 4 cms now, but I'm sure it'll all be gone fairly quickly.
-
Well that was an unexpected bonus. A couple of hours of heavy prolonged showers, drama on the M62, about 4-5 cms laying, everything all white and crisp and lovely, frost tonight so it'll still be there tomorrow for some proper sledging. All in all a thoroughly decent afternoon that's left me feeling a whole lot more positive about this cold spell than I was this morning ! It's amazing what a few hours of (admittedly on/off) heavy snow can do for your spirits !
And with a little bit of luck the 'front that no-one wants to mention' may deliver a bit more Saturday night/Sunday morning !

my first post (couldn't resist too excited)
snowing very heavy for last 30mins here in bradford
roads, paths, roofs all covered
THIS WAS NOT FORECAST AT ALL!
Yeah, drove through what can only be described as a proper blizzard over the M62, but soon cleared once I got past Bradford, so it was only a very heavy prolonged shower really, but was exciting while it lasted.

The pattern of the winter continues in NW Stratosshire: snow overnight but no more than a dusting really: certainly not enough to stick a ruler into on firm surfaces - 5mm perhaps.
Raining since 9.
Absolutely, but things might be a bit different by this time next week perhaps in our neck of the woods ??????

Well I'm quite excited to report we have just experienced a short but decently heavy SNOW shower. Not sleet, not soft hail, definitely snow.
-
Couple of (bit blurry) shots of most recent shower (about 15 mins ago). Have a covering now - the main advantage of my elevation is that there isn't much melting between showers so hopefully by the end of tomorrow I should have a decent amount.
-
Reasonable snowfall here for over an hour now. And thanks to the lovely cold ground (and probably my ASL) it has settled beautifully - a good inch or maybe 2.

I remember that vividly as probably the best snow event I've ever been in. Grew up in a little village in mid-Wales (Ysbytty Ystwyth - about twelve miles up in the hills behind Aberystwyth). It blew a blizzard for about 36 hours, and by the time it had finished every road was full to the tops of the (high) hedges so naturally we were cut off. Not much actually settled on the fields as it was all blown off. I seem to remember it took about five days to actually clear a path through wide enough to allow traffic, using a JCB ! It was quite strange then being driven along what felt like a snow tunnel, with passing places dug out every so often. Didn't get back to school in Aberystwyth for two whole marvellous weeks as the school bus just never came ! It stayed for a while as well, but I do remember that the huge piles of cleared snow took many weeks to finally melt away.
-
Well rather bizarrely, there's about an inch of snow on the ground outside this morning,
Was that supposed to happen ??? It's melting very quickly now mind you.
-
About a cm or so settled on cars, grass and hedges this morning, but it'll soon be gone. Still nice to wake up to though.
-
Near enough a blizzard up here at the moment - been fairly heavy snow to heavy snow for a good half hour now and ofcourse everything is now white (if it wasn't already - I still think this is only a heavy shower though)
-
Well well - that's not expexted - having a snow shower at present. That's a bit early ?

Quite surprised when I got home from work, (in Leeds, where there is not a single grain), to find there's still a definite covering here, and where it's blown about there are some little drifts which could be as much as 6-8 cms deep (!!!!!!). This cold spell really doesn't want to b**ger off without a fight it seems.
