Scorching hot sun days with endless blue sky and no cloud to provide occasional relief from it. Anything above 22c can go for me. I find it depletes all my energy. Wind storms in winter can go too - cause too much damage.

Zero storms here unless, of course, I slept through it

Ahh the coolness, the freshness!...
Extremes of weather are always interesting, as was the longevity of the omega block that helped dominate the significant heat, but what made this more difficult to 'take' was the time of year. While, as an equivalent, early March can still bring late winter weather, early September can still be like late summer, but it just never 'feels' right to me to get that kind of synoptic and heat in September, whether it's the opening week or the last week. Clearly, the longevity of the hot weather was extreme and, without question, that spell last week wouldn't have looked out of place in mid-summer...
It was, to an extent nice to enjoy after July and August, but without question, as ever, heat is just harder to deal with than cold, IMO - Far easier to get yourself warmer, than colder and all that, plus like many on this thread I'm just not a fan of that kind of heat, or should I say the humidity, in particular. Heat and sunshine (like June which was stunning!) are absolutely fine, late summer synoptics often bring the dreaded, horrendous humidity as did this past week.
Now a case of good riddance, interesting of course, but good riddance....it's now time for the 'best' 6 months of the year!
Matt.
Absolutely yes, the rain thundering down woke me this morning and it was lovely to hear and know I won’t need to rescue wilting plants today. Sitting in the conservatory now with the door open and the cool air flowing over me is so much better than being smothered by stagnant hot air. Long may it continue.

Unbearable night really, hot and sticky 24c indoors and I have cavity wall insulation, which does help keep indoors cooler. Hoping for a storm this morning to clear the air. It is building up nicely and the atmosphere feels like treacle but only time will tell if it breaks. Either way looking forward to the cooler weather hopefully on its way.

25 already at noon here. The air is disgusting.
Yes, I’m not a million miles away from you and it is getting oppressive out there again Has been a great summer for me to be fair without that intense heat during July and August to endure. No issues with my joints but as soon as this heat started to kick in my joints have started creaking

NO!
It is used on facebook to ridicule someone.... try to produce facts to a flat earther and their response will be a laughing emoji...7 minutes ago, Nick L said:Agreed. We had this very issue on the forum when we used to have the laughing reaction.
Well, a smile button will do then. A smile button wouldn’t ridicule anyone! Anything that shows appreciation of a sense of humour!

I would love to see a laughing symbol and have done for a while, I do feel it would give positive vibes. Some of the posts are really so funny at times.

For me personally, unless I am well out of the sun, yes it is. If it is cloudy and the sun isn’t out then I can cope with it.

Very heavy rain and constant rumbling thunder now

That was some intense rain from that cell
It certainly was. Did you get hail too? I’m a stones throw away from you in Penn and for a moment I thought my roof was coming in with the hail.

Pretty intense fierce lightening here with constant booming thunder.

Just had a potent thunderstorm roll through here. Frequent fierce lightening with long rumbles of thunder and hail bouncing off everything. Lightening and thunder still going but rain and hail now stopped.

I'm hoping that should I turn off my phone until that malarkey has been and gone, it'll still work when I turn it on again... What a waste of time!
Me too. If that goes off I’ll be scraping me and the cats off the ceiling

Many thanks to you all for the snow discussion over the past several days, ups and downs!
Well i have been here lurking in the background due to some unfortunate reasons that has took a toll upon my life.
Back in 2007 i got a Kitten lovely male ginger tom - He passed, 30th January 2023 at 10:32pm at home with me.
His little heart was on its way out in November, when i took him to the vets but they gave me (a warning he could go at any time) And medication for him.
So thats 16 years living alone with just one friend to help me on my way - that he did to, with my Dad passing in 2016, Relationships on and off, My little fella was always there. Its ripped my heart out, getting back home and no "meawws", hopping on my lap, it could go on forever
Enjoy your life and pets while here, a bit like the snow over past days, once its gone, its gone.
Two images 11th Dec 22 Paws in the snow. And just him wondering if its going to stop raining!
Still got a bit of snow on the shaded area out back.
Again, thanks all.
Just read this, so sorry Wonderful companions.
We homed an older rescued community FIV street cat with a young gentleman living on his own just after Christmas and it has been wonderful to see them bond over the weeks since then. Both new owner and the munchkin are now true soul mates.

Seems mild outside today but goodness me it is wet and very wild with high winds. Yesterday morning was beautiful and the sunshine felt quite warm.

@Methuselah we had a smattering of the wonderful white stuff after all.
Have to keep brushing it off my cat enclosure fence
@weirpig you were correct!

I think you may well do well later Areas around wolves into Sedgley Dudley should see a few cm i would have thought i just think it may become more of a wintry mix below say 400ft. but its certainly better than here
It has become heavier over the last hour or so although the sky seems to be brightening up somewhat.

Very fine snow most of the morning here but zero has settled.

Bright sunshine here. Having just watched the Met Office deep dive, I have a feeling we may well miss out on the snow. Time will tell.

Reading the latest views on the weather going forward isn’t encouraging yet is it Really want to get the summer repotted plug plants out of the conservatory into the portable greenhouse. Had them outside during the day yesterday but it doesn’t seem warm enough overnight yet. Cats are desperate to get into the conservatory but I daren’t let them in there with small potted plants - carnage would ensue
