  1. Wife & i went for a walk yesterday afternoon at top of Detling Hill (approx 500' asl), nr Maidstone and from the ruins of Thurnham Castle looking North there were the remains of a drift in a field about 200 yds away. I'd say probably 25feet long and a couple of feet wide but a brilliant white as opposed to all the dirty piles of snow that get lift in shopping centre car parks. i was suprised to see it as it faces south although until this weekend there's not been much sun to melt it. Must be one of the few partches left south of the Thames.

  2. Think that explains it, full on from those NE showers, you seeem to be on a that track that's not so hilly between Faversham and You. Maidstone and here are quite protected (to some extent) from that wind track by Detling and Bluebell Hills!

So what's your "prog" for tonight???

Maidstone has been absolutely hammered since around Noon and at least 5cm/2ins have fallen, probably more but its been blown around. Usually the hills to give us some protection but i think the strength of the wind has blown the showers straight into the river valley that Maidstone sits in and the snow has been unloaded on the poor burgers of the County Town! It appears to have eased off at last.

  3. Can anyone in the Northampton area help? I am supposed to be taking my daughter to Northampton Uni tomorrow for a "taster" course which starts at 11am. I know the Uni was shut today but what are conditions like now and IF you get no more snow what are the chances of it being open tomorrow? (Their web site merely states it will give an update at 8am tomorrow but i would like to leave Maidstone before then) It may be that the route between Mstne & N'hmptn may be "difficult" anyway.

    Thanks

    Chris

  4. Sid Waddell is just a POWER ramper!!!

    another loud mouthed muppett

both annoying , certainlly wouldn`t want to get stuck in a lift with either of them

On Radio 5 live's weather forecast at 6.30am this morning, Alex Deacon revealed he was a big darts fan - so much so that his nickname is Alex "The Death" Deacon and he has the skull & Crossbones on his flights! (On a more mundane note he forecast the cold weather would last at least another week.)
