Looks like someone has some CCTV footage on this forum http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1799459/pg1

Jeez no ..... Seen plenty of those, this was defiantly a meteorite ... Had a mate call from Stoke he saw it to from th M6 ..... So not local to North Warks.
-
Hi all,
Did anyone else see the magnificent fireball tonight about 21.40 ? Went North to south in the East ? Biggest I've ever seen .....
-
First BA flight on the descent now...
he must be on fumes the time he's spent holding close to the UK ...
-
Well the Vancouver flight was on hold for at least an hour then started heading for Shannon .. then got to Dublin and turned around and now heading for London but needs to waste some time/fuel still ??
-
looks like they have consulted with the engine folks and raised the bar on levels of ash the engines can tolerate, I guess thats the flights over the weekend we saw including BA ... lets hope the folks at Rolls Royce have got the facts right .. .. .. but I agree where does this leave aviation should the ash descend on the UK again I suppose it will be just BAU to fly.
-
I can't see how the BA flight over the Isle of Man can wait till about 21.45 or so before heading for LHR ... you would have thought it was getting marginal after been holding for at least an hour ...
No its broken out of its holding pattern and heading for Shannon What an utter waste of fuel !
-
Well I guess Heathrow will be open fully from tomorrow as will the rest of the air space. What a mess. So Airlines now can tell the authorities when they will fly.
Shame isn't it .. looks like ££££ and corporate might wins the day ...... well done BA
-
I think we can assume so .. BA bullying tactics I would imagine having so many aircraft sitting just outside our airspace knocking on the doors ..
-
Just amazing how much fuel BA are prepared to waste in a holding pattern over the Isle of Man .. others have diverted to Shannon but this flights seems intent on holding ..
-
BA are defiantly testing the stance .. I notice the Lagos flight has decided to turn away from the UK as soon as it hit the channel ...
-
So are they just going to fly around in circles till they run out of fuel, its clear they are not going to be able to land! Unless that flight from Canada decides to hover around heathrow until it runs out of fuel in which its forced to land there! Seems its only BA landing in the UK, seen an easy jet land at Luton though. Might have been a "test flight"
yeah saw that one .. flew out to Liverpool did a loop and flew back ...
-
Just seen the two fly over the Midlands  ...one was Cargo 747 Cargo 1st con-trails in days and days lol
-
Looks like the Easyjet flight has done a tour of Liverpool and is heading back on the same heading back to Luton ...
-
I see BA102 has taken a sudden turn away from the Midlands on its way from Calgary ..... and the Easyjet flight has turned around too ...
-
Been a cracking day, clear and no con-trails .. would say the sky is a milky blue rather than blue so I assume it's either high cloud or the effects of the ash, I thought I could smell a definite 'niff' in the air mid morning ... but that's been replaced now by BBQ's . Be interesting to see if any of this ash falls this evening here in the Midlands as the car only had the usual Summer dusting this morning.
Makes you wonder how Northern Europe will cope with long term grounding of flights if this continues for any period of time .. ..

Well it's spotting with rain here in North Warks, wind has got up in the last 30 mins or so and it's feeling bitter out ... but not reflected in the temperature which has dropped .5c in the last hour currently 3.2c ...

Hi from North Warwickshire
Looks like temps have stopped rising here and have leveled out I'm hoping this is the start of the drop in temps that folks seem to say is going to happen ....
