  1. looks like they have consulted with the engine folks and raised the bar on levels of ash the engines can tolerate, I guess thats the flights over the weekend we saw including BA ... lets hope the folks at Rolls Royce have got the facts right .. .. .. but I agree where does this leave aviation should the ash descend on the UK again I suppose it will be just BAU to fly.

  2. I can't see how the BA flight over the Isle of Man can wait till about 21.45 or so before heading for LHR ... you would have thought it was getting marginal after been holding for at least an hour ...

No its broken out of its holding pattern and heading for Shannon  What an utter waste of fuel !

  3. So are they just going to fly around in circles till they run out of fuel, its clear they are not going to be able to land! Unless that flight from Canada decides to hover around heathrow until it runs out of fuel in which its forced to land there! Seems its only BA landing in the UK, seen an easy jet land at Luton though. Might have been a "test flight"

yeah saw that one .. flew out to Liverpool did a loop and flew back ...

  4. Been a cracking day, clear and no con-trails .. would say the sky is a milky blue rather than blue so I assume it's either high cloud or the effects of the ash, I thought I could smell a definite 'niff' in the air mid morning ... but that's been replaced now by BBQ's . Be interesting to see if any of this ash falls this evening here in the Midlands as the car only had the usual Summer dusting this morning.

Makes you wonder how Northern Europe will cope with long term grounding of flights if this continues for any period of time .. .. :drinks:
