  1. Morning all,

    I'll repost this:

    2.0c, sky looking very snowy.

For those of you worrying about the temps - Don't: Here's why:

    1) The dewpoints are below freezing everywhere in the Northwest by at least -3c.

    2) The temperature is expected to drop sharply before the front arrives.

    3) For those of you worrying about snowmelt today - The only snowmelt will be on roofs due the the ground and grass temperature being below -10c atm.

Current temp here is 3.1c dewpoint of -1.3c, I highly doubt the grass and ground temp is below -10c although I havent measured it :D

Although my temperature is not conductive for snow I am expecting anything to fall to be snow as that nice dry continental air is keeping dewpionts low and the temperature will drop under any ppn.

  2. I think the winds will need to switch around to a strong easterly before I'll be taking interest of anymore snow for Oldham. The North Eastly is just killed off by the Pennines. Maybe they know something we don't, but I expect they are just playing on the safe side, and thinking we might catch a rogue shower that will just about scrape itself over the Pennines.

The day we got 25+ cm of snow on Tuesday, they had 3 glorious sunny graphics on their 3 day forecast. Take it with a pinch of what we are in desperate need of....rock salt.

Yeah I think the only time we have had a good dumping of snow around here from the east is on a straight easterly. Showers from a north easterly just never reach this far.

It does sound a bit though, from the video forcast on the BBC website, that they know something we don't.

    Heres hoping hey :cold:

  3. Its snowing here now, a very wet sleety snow but snow nevertheless. It's never going to settle though as the ground temperature is roughly the same as the air temperature (2C). Not heavy enough to make an impact either. Snow like this seems very localised because across the river at 700 feet high it appears they're getting rain, yet 350 feet here we are getting snow, so strange things happening.

Sleety wet snow here aswell, dew point is dropping which is a good sign. I wonder if that second, more heavier band in mid wales will reach here? Here's hoping :drinks:
