I think in the last hour they have started heading North, very slight veering of the winds to a more SEasterly, those showers to our South seem to be heading North:yahoo:., Not that we need any more here, were snowed in and it looks like Sat at the earliest to escape:cold::yahoo:

Look at how the showers are developing from about 10 miles inland.  In the pics you see time snaps from the radar.  Red dot is me that completely missed the shower, but look at how it suddenly appeared and then intensified

  3. Well its just goes to show nowcasting and looking at the radar in these situations is the only way to go. Here in Hexham this evening 2" fresh good snow all roads covered from the numerous heavy showers. temp-0.5 Who could forecast that at even 24hrs out. Conditions perfect for convection and a Tyne valley streamer. -8 uppers,-10 just of the coast, due easterly wind with a bit of North in the upper flow, bingo out of nowhere this evening a lovely snow fall not forecast. Morpeth getting hammered, Otterburn getting hammered., localised winter amazement, Does my head in sometimes reading other threds when folk are trying to forcast timings and depth 5 days out sometimes 15.

This evening in the Tyne valley totally unexpected, but great. roll on tomorrow night.
