Send it north when your done please
I think in the last hour they have started heading North, very slight veering of the winds to a more SEasterly, those showers to our South seem to be heading North., Not that we need any more here, were snowed in and it looks like Sat at the earliest to escape

Dont under estimate the powers of convection and instability. That wadge of light snow off the Northumberland coast right now was a mere twinkle in our eyes 4 hours ago off Dundee. Check out the big boy behind it.

Internet age is great, I used to stand outside looking North or East or at lamp post and only come in at 5 to the hour to listen to the forecast
Enjoy the snow. 63 and counting

I will take that, looking on the satellite looks like showers ate breaking out ahead of it and I mean proper showers not like the ones today
Exactly, keep your eyes on the Net Wx radar that shower activity starting up 100 miles East of Dundee. Heading our way

See the Met Office have issued a warning for this morning. 2/5cms local and 8cms NE facing slopes. North sea doing its work.

Well its just goes to show nowcasting and looking at the radar in these situations is the only way to go. Here in Hexham this evening 2" fresh good snow all roads covered from the numerous heavy showers. temp-0.5 Who could forecast that at even 24hrs out. Conditions perfect for convection and a Tyne valley streamer. -8 uppers,-10 just of the coast, due easterly wind with a bit of North in the upper flow, bingo out of nowhere this evening a lovely snow fall not forecast. Morpeth getting hammered, Otterburn getting hammered., localised winter amazement, Does my head in sometimes reading other threds when folk are trying to forcast timings and depth 5 days out sometimes 15.
This evening in the Tyne valley totally unexpected, but great. roll on tomorrow night.

Just started snowing in Hexham. Very light but definite snow with a temp of -0.5. Lets hope it stays as snow through the evening.

Well we are now facing up to an intense PV and Uncle Barty;

Get to here, and it's a long haul back to even the sort of cooler zonality seen lately
True but not impossible, 11th Jan 2009 attached, 3 weeks later was a very different picture.!!!!
The start of the end of the M.E.

Already had heavy wet snow here in Hexham this morning. Up at the race course +-200m starting to turn white. Expecting a slight covering this evening if the showers persist.

First flakes of the Winter here this morning in Hexham, heavy sleet since 0700 temp 2.5. Now turning more to wet snow
