Can tell you all for sure there is more lightning than is being picked up on radars, I'm laying in bed with my window facing the perfect direction and can see flashes every couple of mins that are not showing up on any detector, not bad considering how far away it is from here

At this rate, I wouldn't count it out. But we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, it could quite easily dissipate right before our eyes! Here's hoping we get a good one! Plus it will be dark too.
Suppose will just have to wait and see them, on the plus as soon as it gets dark we might be able to see a few flashes since it's not a million miles away

Rain has stopped here now, quiet down with lightning and thunder but I think this could just be the beginning of it, especially if it picks up to 40-50 strikes again
It's quite constant flashes here say every 15-20 seconds and a constant low grumbling sound with the odd louder crackle, from where I am (nw peterborough) I can see pink flashes all over the sky, too far to see actual forks of course but lovely seeing that flicker xx

The event on Thursday morning is really looking like what had happened on 28th August 2016, where storms formed in the channel, pushing up through CS England and increasing NE/E towards East Anglia. Here an MCS formed reaching lightning rates of over 100/min. Funny enough the rainfall rates predicted by WRF-NMM coincide with this capture from 28th August 2016.
Interesting to watch...
Hmmm well if it could be like that actual day Id be really happy (without the destruction of course) I remember it so well, peterborough had a direct hit, aparantly perfect storm, constant flashing, loud booming thunder impressive hail etc, on Facebook my dad posted pics of his conservatory roof smashed in by hail, my sister in laws house got hit by lightning, everyone who I knew was going crazy over this fabulous storm, lasted like a few hours, I'd only have hoped for a nice little storm all summer last year, and I counted down the days till I'd prob be able to intercept an amazing European storm, considering we was driving from Peterborough to Barcelona straight through the centre of France, thought finally my chances were near on perfect... I had to hear of this amazing day all over Facebook the day after arriving (after seeing no storms!!) whilst sat on a baking beach.... never did I ever think I'd be sat in the glorious sun on an amazing beach looking at lightning maps watching 100+ strikes per min directly over my house wishing I was at home, well that's just my luck hahaha oh well doing it all again in 7 weeks, mark my words if it ever happens again I'll never go on holiday again hahahahaha

Just had three rain drops from a gloomy sky, now brightening up again. Never mid the No Storms Club, what about the No Rain Club? Or the One Minute of Ploppy Rain Club?
Well if you're expecting rain today then massive amounts of good luck, I've been right in the middle under that colourful blob over peterborough for around half an hour ish and the floor is just kinda looking spotty haha it must be evaporating or something but there wasn't much coming out of it that's for sure

Snow princess - just saw your post, sorry I'm going to be straight up I really don't have a clue what the weather will be like next weekend, I feel that the UK is stuck between two areas of settled weather and it's a lottery right now whether we will join in or not! I doubt it will be hot though.
Perhaps if you give details of your journey some others might chip in!
