Well, all I can see from here, is a wonderful full(?) moon...I just hope that my prickly heat (if that's what it is?) disappears along with the current sweat-fest!:)

Not sure, but think full moon is tomorrow, remember reading about partial eclipse, from earth's shadow maybe?? Anyway, it's all I can see too. And doesn't seem any cooler to me yet! Where can I find local temps please? Thanks

Still searching for my first red holly berry, thousands in the garden, but all green. Anyone got any?

Been on a very long country walk today (pokemon hunting with the kids). Didn't see any at all. Not long to go for the conkers though!

Nice end to the Gfs 12z op further south with temps nudging 70F. Yeah I will be accused of cherry picking desperation but it's the best part of the run!:D

Cherry pick away please frosty. After the most dire winter I can ever remember I'm longing to see more and more charts like this! Long may they continue until November!! :)

Knocker why are you in here all the time where there is hardly anyone to read your posts? a popular poster like you should be in the model output discussion..what's going on, did someone upset you?

Yes knocker. It's a real pain you being this side...I have to keep changing threads every half hour to see what's really happening with the weather!!!! (Of course there are a great many others on mod thread but I do like to keep up to date on the wood shed!)

  5. 7 months of learning blown away from the last 14 days of following the mod thread! Have no idea now if anything I thought I understood was correct or not!  Add to that the sleep deprivation, the highs and lows(!) That almost drove me to seek medical help for bipolar, I've decided to take a break from model watching and get outside to enjoy the real weather as it's happening! (Of course, I'll peep back in tonight for a few hours as always!)

Hi GP nice to see you posting again. Although NCEP haven't produced their new summary yet, the  models have updated. Theres a big divergence between the ECM, the ECM monthly and the GEFS bias corrected:

    ECM:

    ECM monthly:

    566eeeb13deac_MJOECM.thumb.gif.ad6da2f89

    GEFS BC:

    566eef2797b48_MJOGEFSBC.thumb.gif.736fa7

The GEFS seem reluctant to progress the signal with it hanging around phase 4.

PS Just to add for any newcomers to the thread, the MJO is strongest  the further away from that inner circle . If it goes into the circle its basically irrelevant in terms of any impacts on the NH pattern.

Aaaah! So that's what meant by circle of death?? Won't even begin to explain what I thought. No wonder I could never make "my interpretations" add up to the same as everybody else's!

  8. Regarding madden. Is it just me, or does everyone else feel the need to click on the link and read even though we all know it's a load of rubbish? And surely when we click on the link that's good for the express? If so, then maybe that's why they continue to print the nonsense. What's really worrying though is that virtually every paper , even local ones, now seem to be following. Added to that is the fact that some genuine quotes are used out of context, but joe public does not notice that, they just blame the real forecasters when the weather fails to live up to the hype. Rant over!

  9. If you are interested wishful a couple of videos can be found here, And if you are really lucky you can catch a glimpse of a young knocker wearing his famous celtic pullover. I can see now why women used to go weak at the knees.

Thanks knocker. That's tonight's reading until the small hours sorted out! :) oh! Maybe not so much reading, more watching!
  10. 8C min last night and the inevitable Sc infill has formed - forecast was sunny but there you go.  Cloudy all day every day now in the UK.

Absolutely beautiful here in brentwood. Went from central heating and duvet hugging last night to deck chair and lunch on the balcony today!

  11. This is probably a very basic question to ask, but maybe because it's so basic I'm really struggling to find any info: the cold atlantic, is this to do with el nino in any way or is it something that happens regardless? Is it a regular occurrence over time? Is this/last year anything exceptional? Thanks in advance
