I can’t put any trust in these charts at all, they may as well not exist.
I’ve had 4 hours of heavy rain here tonight in Essex when these charts a few days ago were showing a decent snow event. I’ve not even made the transition to sleet!

How long till summer?
This “Winter” has really wound me up and I’m fed up with it.
The band is now starting to decay and we’ve had solid non stop rain for 4 hours. It’s absolutely pathetic
-
Still absolutely pouring with rain here in Maldon, Essex.
I can see this being a massive disappointment! The puddles are huge it’s been raining for hours
-
Been raining for the last hour and a half in Maldon, Essex.
No sign of anything wintry yet and the ground is absolutely soaked
-
The latest Beeb forcast at 21:25 had Paris and most of France expecting 10-20 cms of OUR SNOW!
However there was also a large area of snow over the entire SE and EA for tomorrow so maybe we will see something a little decent

Am i the only one in here getting very nervous now that this low pressure is just going to dive into France and we’ll end up with nothing as usual?
The latest GFS for tuesday seems to put into a fair way into central France

MOD thread is a mess because you’ve got those in the North that are happy at the output and those in the South moaning and throwing toys!
All i want to see is a little snow, is that really asking too much?

Just checked the GFS, surprised there's not more talk about Tuesday and Wednesday evening next week, looks like there's plenty of potential for our part of the world. Wednesday looks like we could see a fair bit if things don't change too much (which it will)
This is what confuses me about the MOD thread. Everyone is always chasing day 10 charts showing Narnia and often ignore what is potentially coming up!
So in terms of us in the SE/EA are we still looking good for some snow next week?
-
This forcasts on the been now really are a complete load of toss! At 955pm last night Saturday was going to be a washout and on Sunday they had 50mph winds over us.
Roll forward to 16:25 today and Saturday is now totally dry and Sunday is wet but the winds are 14mph
Its utterly shambolic

Snowing in Maldon, nothing to write home about but I’m working outside and it’s nice to see

Patience. It's barely started. Beast from the East didn't strike until March.
And i missed that as i was in the Caribbean!
Hence my impatience at waiting for a decent snow event. Knowing my luck it will come end of feb/early march when I’m away again
-
That video that @yamkin shared is brilliant, thats how snow should be!
All i have here in Maldon is light drizzle
Really fed up with this “winter”

Need this precip to move directly east now or it looks like i’ll miss out in Essex

You are rightly going to abuse me for this. Absolutely correct too.
But... There is a huge difference in the Griceland area at 42 hours on the pub run, pressure increasing and I feel this will be a very different run. Very very different.
**EDIT** Arctic high link up looks possible here now as early as T54
You shouted at shaky the other day for commenting on +72 of certain runs and saying let it run etc and now you’re scrutinising +42
We’ve all lost the damn plot

I love the way the TV forcast shows Tuesdays weather front as rain over the UK and then it crosses 30 miles of English Channel and as soon as it hits Northern France boom instant snow!
-
I often wish we could go back to a day before the likes of these Netweather forums and being able to view charts etc.
In a matter of hours we’ve gone from a possible Narnia event to basically miserable winter dross and most posters in the MOD thread wanting to top themselves
I’ve lost count of the amount of times the models have shown epic wintryness only for us to end up with absolutely nothing, I’m fed up with the constant disappointments
-
That 1991 forcast really brings back some memories @Paul Sherman!
A black cloud and 2 snowflakes was when you really knew you were in for a pasting. That was back when the TV forcasts were exciting

Can’t say the latest beeb forcast with Darren “At least it will be mild” Bett was anything to be excited about.
Mainly dry all next week bar some rain on Tuesday with temps between 4-6c. Possibly colder later in week

I reakon I could scrape a frost tonight again 5.9c here...
UKMO 12z brings a lot of wintryness to the SE over the weekend ...
Steve is there any sign of some Warmth and Spring Sunshine? I'm a massive coldie but that's winter done now for me, and after working in the rain all day today I'm sick of it!
Really cannot wait now for some better weather.

Here is my two penneth on the mini beast which has bitten. Firstly for me this has been spectacular. I am utterly amazed at the strength of the easterly. At times it felt as cold as the first one.
To go from 15 degrees to 0 is something that really hasnt been spoken about since the 60's. The snow was great and on top of the table to read 4cm here in welling gob smacking for this late in the season. I wander where we go from here and this is a question i will pose in the mod thread later this week after 2 ssw does the climate automatically revert then to typical fair?
Indeed the temperature drop was somewhat remarkable for our shores! Such changes happen frequently in the US but for us I can't remember a drop in the last 30yrs from 14c on friday to 0c on Saturday with snow basically all day long.
It may have happened of course but if i did I can't recall it

I've had a slight dusting since dark, which was a suprise.
Paths and Roads dry but cars have been dusted and our previous cover on all other surfaces has survived rather well.

Just popped into the SW thread, they've done better than us out of an EASTERLY for god sake!
Circa 10-15 cms widely reported

A good snow event for March, that can't be denied. However i do feel short changed aome what!
It's ironic how we had an Easterly flow, with moisture and yet parts of the Midlands have far more snow than us! We sat under thick cloud and snow all day yesterday but it was so light it could have snowed for a year and you still wouldn't have had enough for a snowman!
Midlands north were battered with constant heavy showers which continued all night long and showers are somewhat more exciting than a few flakes in the wind for 15 hrs.
Anyway we've had the best winter for snow since around 2010, in terms of number of falls. We must of had 8-10 separate falls now, granted not all settled but snow still fell.
Ready for spring now please!

Well that was another bust for Essex! Woke up so the slightest of slight slush deposits on cars only and now it’s pouring with rain
Drove from Maldon to Basildon without seeing anything other than rain with a few flakes mixed in. Unless it’s an easterly it’s just a complete waste of time
This winter promised so much but has been an utter disappointment. Spring & Summer now please!
