Well i'm in Wolves and i didn't hear anything, plus there is no raindrops falling out of that little shower, which right over the top of my location (or very close).

It wouldn't of come from that cell over Wolverhampton , would of been from the storm over Shrewsbury .

It was very distant , more of a crack than a rumble .

Definitely thunder though , I've heard enough thunder in my lifetime (46 years) to know when a sound is thunder

  2. Both NW and the met office have lightning symbols for my location this afternoon (met office into the evening as well) which has to be a first this week as the lightning symbols have been lacking on the met office app forecast .

Came so tantalisingly close to a storm last night only for it to fizzle out !

Hoping today is better , certainly feels closer compared to yesterday and the clouds are getting heavier and darker which is a good sign .

Severe weather affecting services across the Midlands until approximately 09:00 on Friday 1 June

The Met Office have issued a weather warning for the Midlands. Severe thunderstorms and torrential downpours are expected. This may lead to flooding in some places, and cause disruption to journeys.

As a result of this, speed restrictions have been imposed on the following routes:

    • Banbury - Oxford
    • Birmingham New Street - Bristol Temple Meads

Delays of up to 60 minutes and cancellations can be expected.
